UPDATED DATE: UCSD TNT (Triton Novice Tournament) (10/16/10)

Post by bqtsui »

Hi,

The UCSD quizbowl club is pleased to announce a JV tournament on October 16, 2010. We will be using NAQT set IS-A 97.

As this is a JV tournament, there will be strict rules of eligibility. Eligible players for this tournament will include only freshmen, sophmores, and juniors or seniors who have played less than one year of quizbowl. Academic League participation will not count toward this restriction.

The fee structure for this tournament is:

70 dollars for the first team from a school
-10 dollars for staffers
-5 dollars for functional buzzers
-20 dollars for new teams (teams that have not played in a QB tournament in at least 1 year)

We're going to cap this tournament at 18 teams for now, pending interest and available staffers, so if your team is interested in this, please email us at ucsdqb [AT] gmail.com.

Logistics to follow later.

Note the updated date (from 10/23 to 10/16). Also, there's been quite a bit of interest from teams already about this tournament, so sign up quick.

There's only about a week and a half to this tournament, so teams that have novices should sign up quickly. We have 17 teams currently, and we're almost reaching our cap.

Congratulations to Canyon Crest Academy, who cleared the field by going 11-0 throughout the whole day. Second place went to El Capitan while third place went to San Dieguito Academy.

Thanks to the Luna brothers and Lucas Brown for coming to help staff our tournament today.

Yeah. We're going to explicitly forbid more than 1 alternate player (which would have let us play a much smoother 18-20 team tournament had we known about it earlier) in future tournaments.
