Interested teams should email me at fbilimoria3 at gatech dot edu with number of teams, staffers, buzzers, and any other pertinent information. I hope that we get around the same turnout we had for ACF Fall last year (~20 teams), but this is only doable with workers from outside our club. Freelance moderators are also quite welcome to participate. (Edit 8/4: Also, if you bring, say, a five-man team, we would very much love it and give you a staffer discount if your fourth and fifth players alternate playing and staffing.)
Edit 8/11: Open and solo teams are welcome, so long as open teams are novice-level-appropriate (no superteams).
Edit 8/25: Fees and discounts
$100 base fee per team
Discounts:
$5 per buzzer set (maximum of two for the discount, though you are welcome to bring more)
$10 per staffer
$10 per 200 miles traveled (shortest distance given by Google Maps)
$30 if high school
$10 per extra team
$40 if solo team
$30 if two-person team
Those last two only apply if you are sending one team; if your second team is only one or two people, you get the extra team discount. The travel discount applies to all teams coming from a school.
Edit 10/12: Location and parking: We are hosting this tournament in the Howey building, the same place as last year's ACF Fall. In front of Howey and is the State Street visitor lot, ostensibly $1.25 an hour, but we've had visiting teams park there with no trouble that I know of. To get to Howey and the State St. lot:
Northbound on I-75/I-85 (Using Exit 250):
* Take Exit 250, 10th Street.
* Turn left (West) onto 10th Street.
* Turn left (South) onto State Street.
* Continue State Street until it intersects with Ferst Drive (at stop sign). The State Street Visitor Parking Lot is straight ahead.
Southbound on I-75 (Using Exit 250):
* Take Exit 250, 10th/14th Streets.
* Travel to 10th Street and turn right (West).
* Turn left (South) onto State Street. State Street intersects with Ferst Drive (at stop sign). The State Street Visitor Parking Lot is straight ahead.
Southbound on I-85 (Using Exit 84):
* Take Exit 84, 17th/14th/10th Streets.
* Travel to 10th Street.
* Turn right (West) onto 10th Street.
* Turn left (South) onto State Street. State Street intersects with Ferst Drive (at stop sign). The State Street Visitor Parking Lot is straight ahead.
Modified directions from the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
If you plan on approaching or leaving campus from Fifth Street (different from the directions I've provided), be warned that there will be an event called Taste of Atlanta in Tech Square (5th and Spring). I don't know if the roads will be blocked or if it'll be really crowded, so I really don't know whether teams using those roads will be hindered. I'm also not sure if Tech Square's restaurants will be closed off to non-participants (although I do note that Moe's, located in Tech Square, isn't on the list of participating restaurants).
There are also free parking options, although they require more walking: the Student Center lot and metered parking in the academic areas.
Here is a map (PDF) with the aforementioned visitor parking areas marked in green.
Area 4: State St. lot
Area 2: Student Center lot
M: metered parking outside the Student Center and Campus Recreation Center (both on Ferst Dr.) and next to the Student Center parking deck marked W02 on the map.
We'll meet in lecture hall 1 (L1). Enter the building from the Atlantic Drive entrance, and it is the one on the very left. We plan to start at 9:00 AM.
