Fall Kickoff Tournament at Boise State (10/30/10)
Fall Kickoff Tournament at Boise State (10/30/10)
Boise State will be mirroring the Fall Kickoff Tournament on Halloween Eve. This tournament is designed to be an easy (appropriate for beginners) Fall tournament. In an effort to keep this accessible (for an introductory tournament), the tournament fee will just be $15 with discounts for travel, new teams, and bringing a buzzer system. (Minimum fee is $0.)

This should be great. Thanks for hosting!
Frenchtown is formally expressing interest and will very likely be bringing one team.
Wait, the Fall "Kickoff" Tournament is different than the Fall Novice Tournament, right? Hopefully?
Edit: Clarity

Yes, the Fall Kickoff tournament was mainly written by some Ohio college players, with help from Boise State and, perhaps, DuPont Manuel, although I'm not sure about that. The Fall Novice tournament was written by numerous players from across the country.FlamingPiWalrusWizard wrote:This should be great. Thanks for hosting!

Unless the Boise State Quizbowl team has unlocked the mysteries of time travel, I think that you accidentally put the wrong date in the topic subject line.

We're officially bringing one team. We could bring a buzzer too, if you want. Also, do you have a field update?

Re: Fall Kickoff Tournament at Boise State (10/30/10)
So far:
Frenchtown, MT (1)
Juan Diego, UT (2)
Bishop Kelly (2)
Treasure Valley Math & Science (2)
Payette (2)
St. Joseph (UT) asked about accommodations, so I assume they'll be coming, too, but I haven't heard officially. I'll send out another reminder e-mail soon to see if I can encourage other local schools to come.
Edited to add Payette, who just said they're coming.

Updated team list:
Frenchtown, MT (1)
Juan Diego, UT (2)
Bishop Kelly (2)
Treasure Valley (2)
Payette (2)
Kuna (1)
Rocky Mountain (1)
There may still be more teams coming, but a field of 11 teams beats our field of 10 from last semester.

Frenchtown went undefeated through the field at 9-0 to win the tournament. Eamon took top scoring honors with 88.something ppg.
I'll have full results posted when I get them from Tony.

It's been said before, but I'll say it again; building a circuit from scratch (especially when the average team is traveling 5 hours each way) is both incredibly awesome and underappreciated.

I can get teams to travel 6-8 hours, but I can't get teams from Twin Falls to travel 1.5 hours. :(
