What do the brackets look like for this tournament? We only got our own teams' brackets in our folder.

In Santo: Auburn went 5-0. The other top-bracket team is Lisle or "Hamilton," I'm not sure.

Lisle is the other team going to the top bracket. Libertyville and "Hamilton," which is Joe Nutter from Walnut Hills solo are the middle teams.

Auburn and DCC are currently in a play-in game to determine who plays Stevenson in the finals.

All three teams finished in a 6-1 circle of death at the end of the modified carryover round robin thingy.

Thanks for a great tournament! Though my team didn't win as much as they hoped, they seemed to understand it was truly a stacked field in the top tier. If they didn't, the fact they opened against the defending state champs in Class AA made it perfectly clear. Considering we've had approximately zero players attend an ACE camp, results like these aren't anything to be embarrassed about. Perhaps with the addition of an ACE camp in Champaign, maybe some players will be motivated to give up 4 days of their summer to go learn the subjects where we are weak, especially lit and art.

Except for my sudden malaise, I thoroughly enjoyed the tournament. We had excellent moderators, and I always enjoy it when we play DCC. With potential representatives from other states, this should be and is one of the premiere tornaments in Illinois.

Congratulations to Auburn A for a hard-fought final. The field was brutal, and any of the top dozen or so teams (at least!) could easily win a tournament most days of the week. (Well, most Saturdays of the year.)

I'll have more to say tomorrow. For now, here are stats for the Über-Competitive Division:
prelims
parallel brackets phase
superplayoffs*
overall*

*I don't have the scoresheets from the final or the play-in game; I'm waiting for Mike Sorice to email me them. For now, I entered the play-in game as a 1-0 victory for Auburn, since I don't even know its score, and I put in the final match score without the details.

Not to be all staaaaaaaaaats, but I assume there's errors in there, because while Stevenson is good, I doubt they had a ppb of 29.78.

I think that has something to do with the finals not having the details entered.

Edit: Yeah, because in the superplayoffs-only stats, Auburn is at 32.22 and Stevenson at 34.70. I'm blaming the aforementioned.

I'm sure their average had to have gone down from their round one average (v. Barrington A) of 29.2 PPB. Seriously. They missed a single bonus part on the 13 they controlled in that match.

The final and the play-in game for the final are now entered in the stats for the Über-Competitive Division, and the Standard Division stats are posted. All bonus conversion issues should therefore be fixed.

According to my scoresheet, Crete-Monee B won 20-10. Auburn D didn't get any points on that protest.

Thomas and Brandon both had a tossup for CMB, and Jake had one tossup for Auburn B.

Congratulations to Auburn, and thank you to everyone who made this an excellent tournament. I have only two complaints:

(1) The half-hour delay to clear up some stats snafu after lunch did not seem to affect the top bracket. Had that been cleared up sooner, at least the top bracket could have gotten started, considering they would be playing more rounds anyway.

(2) There were no umlauts on the trophies for the Ubercompetitive [sic] Division. What kind of amateurish crap is that?

It affected only some games, so it's possible your schedule was correct, but there were several in each tier that were incorrect.

To be clear, the stats were not the issue. The issue was in the schedules that were printed.

Also, having the staggered start for that division, when the other division had already started, creates serious issues with teams discussing specific questions too soon.

(1) The half-hour delay to clear up some stats snafu after lunch did not seem to affect the top bracket. Had that been cleared up sooner, at least the top bracket could have gotten started, considering they would be playing more rounds anyway.
To be clear, the stats were not the issue. The issue was in the schedules that were printed.

Also, having the staggered start for that division, when the other division had already started, creates serious issues with teams discussing specific questions too soon.
Yeah, I was actually really worried about that in the morning. Because of one reader, the bracket that I was in was apparently a round and a half behind the other brackets at one point, some of which were in the same hallway, and I had to be really careful not to get to talking to the other teams about questions lest they mention something I hadn't heard yet. Starting some afternoon rounds 15 minutes before others would have just caused the same problem. Also, even if your schedule had been right, who's to know whether or not the team you're supposed to be playing got the right schedule and can come start right away, or if you'll just be sitting there for 15 minutes waiting for them to know they're supposed to play you.

First off, this tournament was not a series of expletives.

Second, props to Joe Nutter for taking the Megabus to fill out the top division for this tournament.

Third, for a tournament this size, electronic scoresheets should be a no-go. There were hiccups with the internet, on account of people sending 20+ big spreadsheets every round. Also, the use of electronic scoresheets makes it difficult to enter games people are clamoring for, when it is impossible to figure out who read them.

Also, what the hell was with not printing schedules of any kind? At the beginning, those of us in the control room had to tell two parents, we had no clue where their children were. This is unacceptable.

I'll probably add more when I can think straight, and move around.

Had I realized this might be a problem, I would've set up a better way to submit them. As it was, I figured that Gmail (which almost all the readers, and both statskeepers, were using) could handle large files.

I emailed you the schedules.

1) There were snafus with people getting/sending emails.

2) We got them from Gerhardt about two hours after we were made to look incompetent.

I just updated the stats with a corrected score for the round 7 match in which Latin defeated Wheaton Warrenville South A. The correct score is 330–145, not the previously indicated 290–145; I believe the error arose from a certain moderator's inability to read his own handwriting.

Conversion stats for every question are available here. Note that that thread is in the private discussion forum for the GSAC set, so you need to request approval to see it. To do that, go to your user control panel, choose "Usergroups", and choose "GSAC discussion"; hopefully you will be approved shortly. Feel free also to email me to request these documents.

Rumor has it that we will find out soon. It's only been one month since the tournament took place.

This tournament is platinum. A bunch of status decisions were made last week and will be announced when PACE gets around to it.

I'm currently waiting on team data from the certification committee. Your patience as we attempt to accurately add 28 tournaments is appreciated.
