Minnesota Undergraduate Mirror (3/19/11) at Maryland
The Maryland Academic Quiz Team is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a mirror of the pleasingly-consistent Minnesota Undergraduate Tournament on Saturday, March 19, 2011. Full details on the event can be found at http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewto ... =8&t=10918. The highlights:
COST
Base Fee: $100
Buzzer System: -$5
Moderator: -$10
ELIGIBILITY
As you may have guessed, this tournament is for undergraduates! Any and all undergraduates are welcome to play, as are any current high schoolers (or middle schoolers, random unattended children of any age, pets not holding a bachelor's, etc.). Grad students are not eligible to play this tournament. If you have questions about this, email me.
REGISTRATION
I'll be serving as TD for this event. To register, please email me at [email protected]. Feel free to post here as well, but please do email me to register officially.
SOMETHING ELSE
There was some discussion at Regionals this weekend about possibly combing this with a Sunday mirror of the Illinois Open, if available and if Penn isn't able to work out plans for their mirror. Thoughts on /interest expressions in this idea are extremely encouraged, so we can gauge viability if the event becomes available.
EDIT:
Running Field:
Maryland House 1-2
Montgomery College
St. Aidan's
VCU A
VCU B
Delaware
UVA
Penn

Jacob will be in Peru, but I'll be here, probably solo-ish.

Obviously I'm not playing MUT but of all the heretofore inconvenient locations for IO (for me), this one is the least inconvenient. So yeah, I'd be interested if this actually happens.DumbJaques wrote:There was some discussion at Regionals this weekend about possibly combing this with a Sunday mirror of the Illinois Open, if available and if Penn isn't able to work out plans for their mirror. Field Updated. I'm also eager to hear from a number of Mid-Atlantic teams (George Mason, GW, UNC, Duke, Penn, Princeton, etc.), since this is a great tournament for younger players to attend and, indeed, the only such tournament for several months.

Penn should be there with a team, no buzzers though.

Do you have any estimate on what time this should end?

It looks like Duke might not be able to attend the tournament due to a lack of definite commitments. I will keep you posted.
EDIT: It appears that Duke will not able to attend this tournament.

Could someone set up a private discussion forum for MUT feedback?
