I'm not sure how much you want to mix up this thread and the NY/NJ one, but i feel like you should probably add at least this tournament to this list.

UVA would like to reclaim the traditional Cavalier Classic date of October 29 for a high school tournament on a set to be determined. This set will definitely not be housewritten (as I believe some previous Cav Classics were), but we're currently more or less open to set suggestions, so if you have a strong desire for a mirror of your set at our tournament and it will be finished by October 29, let me know at sangelo147 at gmail dot com.

We are also interested in a spring tournament but will wait to see what happens with the college calendar before scheduling that.

Just for visual reference, although not as big as the SAT in these parts, the ACT is on September 10th, October 22nd, December 10th, February 11th, April 14th, and June 9th

Cave Spring would like to claim November 19th for the CSI VI, a housewrite, and either February 4th or the 18th for the NCIS II, which will hopefully be a vendor set. Before committing to the NCIS date, I'd like to know if the VHSL State tournament date has been set. We'd like to set our NCIS tournament the weekend before that date, if possible. Does anybody have any idea of when the state tournament date will happen? It seems to fall on the last Saturday in February.

According to this VHSL calendar, this year it will be Feb 25.

It's probably worth adding this, and the district (Jan 28) and region (Feb 11) deadlines to the master calendar.

The VHSL District Deadline is January 28, and the Regional one is February 11 (though Districts and Regions can hold their championships earlier). State is usually the last Saturday in February, as to avoid the early March SAT date, as well as W&M's Spring Break.

Any chance the University of Maryland might host another September season launcher as it did last year? Considering the talented teams that attended last year, we would certainly enjoy an opportunity to play in a similar field this year if the opportunity became available.

You might want to include ACT dates as well as SAT dates because they are becoming even more popular each year. Also I'm assuming that Charter's tournament will either be the second or third Saturday of December.

Blacksburg High School would like to claim November 12, 2011 to host a Scholastic Bowl Fall Kickoff event. This event is intended to allow teams that use few or no regular season VHSL matches to get 8 additional regular season matches in before most district tournaments occur. We will be using regular season matches 21-28. Only VHSL member schools can attend this event. The entry fee for the Scholastic Bowl Fall Kickoff will be $5 to cover minimal costs incurred by the host. Schools will only be allowed to enter one team and coaches will be expected to read for 4 of their 8 matches. A team can bring a reader with them if their coach does not want to read.

I'd tentatively like to claim 3/10 for the Blue Hen tournament at UD. However, we're also looking at 3/17 as a possible date, so I'll try to get a more definite answer soon.

NHBB is looking at either March 17 (first choice) or March 10 (second choice) for our DC area A set tournament at Richard Montgomery. If you're thinking of hosting those dates, please let me or Raynell Cooper know, so we can coordinate. We'll also have a C set tournament at School Without Walls in DC and a B set tournament at Mt. St. Joseph High School in Baltimore - dates forthcoming on those latter two. We're going to make a big push to draw in teams at SWW and MSJ that haven't traditionally done more than It's Academic - if even that.

The National History Bee and Bowl is pleased to announce that we will be holding a B set tournament at Mt. St. Joseph College High School in Baltimore on Saturday, November 19. We're going to be working with our host school and recruiter to reach out to a number of area schools that haven't traditionally done as much quiz bowl. Hopefully, some of these schools might then seek out additional area tournaments. Final confirmation of dates for our A set at Richard Montgomery and C set at School Without Walls coming soon.

Dates for MD State, DC, and VA - Williamsburg will be forthcoming soon, and we will certainly look to avoid conflicts with other tournaments in scheduling those.

NHBB is looking into switching its Jan 7 tournament since this conflicts with Green Eggs and Hammond, which is not listed here. I was told this by Centennial's coach on Sat. and since Greg Bossick and I will be talking up our DC area B set at Centennial's tournament on Dec. 4, we figured that looking into switching the date would help, since there's lots of overlap between the schools at Centennial and the schools at Hammond. We will do our best to find a new date - Sunday Jan. 15 is a possibility, since the following day is a holiday.

I just got the final word from NAQT, so I can confirm that our tournament on March 24 will be the Virginia NAQT State Championship. It may take me until after finals to get an announcement up, but I hope to see all of you who are eligible there!

Jared, do you know what set you're going to use for this tournament? I don't know if any HSAPQ sets have been used in this area... so either 22 or 23 would probably work for here.

New Kent's tournament, which would presumably have at least some interest overlap with GDS', is using Set 23 on 1/14.

Ha! Oh right! That Penn tournament that was laughably tentatively scheduled in the Spring instead of November like it had been for the last 3 years. There is literally no room for it on the schedule. Awesome.

This is just going to be one of the most ridiculous Spring schedules ever.

More substantive content for GDS: Has anyone in the region used HSAPQ Tournament-22 yet? If so, what portion of the area hasn't yet heard IS-109 or wouldn't hear IS-113?
