PHSAT XIX at Princeton University (10/8/2011)
On behalf of Princeton University, I would like to announce PHSAT XIX. This year's iteration, will take place on Saturday October 8, 2011, as always on the Princeton University Campus.
Our apologies for the late announcement. I know registering as such short notice may cause paperwork/reimbursement issues for some teams. We will do anything we can to ensure that you can register. Late payments are, of course, not a problem.
This tournament will use NAQT IS 107. The only semi-local conflict seems to be the University of Maryland's Fall High School Tournament on 9/24.
Fees:
$60 for the first team from a school.
$45 for each additional team
-$5 Discount per (Working) Buzzer System
If your team is interested in attending, send me an email, to the address listed below this post. Please, all emails should include PSHAT XIX in the subject line.
Note that the field has reached 32. All further registrations will be put on the wait-list, to be admitted in easily-bracketable groups (i.e. increase to 35/36, then 40, if needed.) So do still email me, but as quickly as possible.
Current Field:
Henderson HS (1)
Pingry (3)
Ridgewood (3)
Bergen County Academies(2)
Colonia (1)
Wissahickon (1)
Millburn (1)
Kellenberg (3)
Blair Academy (3)
Great Neck South (3)
High Tech (1)
BioTech (3)
Wilmington Charter (2)
Hunter (3)
West Essex (2)
Livingston (1)
Monsignor Donovan HS (1)
Seton Hall Prep (1)
Total: 34

Re: PHSAT XIX at Princeton University (10/8/2011)
I am going to try really hard to get Ridgewood to attend this. The only reason we wouldn't is if the administration red flags it because they didn't give me the paperwork I need to fill out with enough lead time. Since I was nagging them about this this summer, they can hopefully fast track it.
Anyway, assuming it works out, put Ridgewood tentatively down for 3 teams; we may have as few as 2, or as many as 6. Will let you know as things shape up.

Saint Joe's would love to attend too, but might not be able to if the Set you use is NAQT IS 107, since we will hear it at the U of Maryland on September 24h. Anyway, we're glad PHSAT is occuring irrespective of the set you finally use.

Ardsley will try and send a team; the fact that it's on Yom Kippur complicates things, though.

Dan,
Have you determined the specific question set you will be using?

According to conversations I had with NAQT, they are likely to get 107, as that and 109 (K'berg) are the only regular sets available before Thanksgiving.Edward Powers wrote:Dan,

Confirming that this tournament is using IS #107. (LIFT is the first use of IS #109.)

Irvington also may send a team, and the fact that it's on Yom Kippur will also complicate things for us.Dripping Springs State Park wrote:Ardsley will try and send a team; the fact that it's on Yom Kippur complicates things, though.

Hi, I'm the president of the Stuyvesant QuizBowl team. We're not sure if we can make it, but if we can we'll bring 1-2 teams and 2 buzzer sets. Yom Kippur is a complication for us, too.

Field update: Currently, 32 teams. I will be accepting wait-list registrations, and am likely to increase the field size at least once.
Also, Oct 8th is Yom Kippur. Some teams have registered without realizing that this poses a conflict. Please tell me ASAP if you need to back out.
