Assuming I can get away or get one of the assistant coaches to accompany, we'll bring an estimated 2 teams and a buzzer. I'll update later.

Ridgewood will be there with 2-5 teams, up to 10 buzzer systems (let me know how many are needed - you don't need to give us discounts beyond the first 2), and I can moderate if needed, though I'd prefer to watch and coach if possible. See you there!

Can we firm up these #'s? The buzzers would be appreciated and if looks as if you won't have to moderate.

Just returned to NJ from LIFT at Kellenberg. Hunter A was 7-0 in the prelims and then went 4-0 in its playoff bracket against Charter A, White Plains A, Great Neck South A and Charter B, while St. Joe's, also 7-0 in the prelims, went 4-0 in its playoff bracket against Ardsley A, Millburn A, Hunter B and Ranney. So, in the cross-over Championship Match, both teams were 11-0, so a small crowd waited for a dramatic championship match to unfold, but it was not to be. Hunter A powered 10 or 11 toss-ups and won the championship decisively, something like 555-170. So, congratulations to Hunter A for its outstanding play all day. Wish we could have given you a better challenge. Maybe next time!

And, of course, thanks to Brother Nigel and all at Kellenberg for their usual hospitality. Wish I could reveal more about other matches, but I have no firm knowledge of these.

Just wanted to add our thanks to Brother Nigel and the Kellenberg crew for running another excellent tournament. LIFT is a tournament we look forward to each year, and for good reason. We ended a bit late this year, but to manage all those teams - including some staying/some leaving - it's an enormous task and we had a smooth day. The quiz bowl program at Hunter has grown a bit and we were very excited to bring four teams to LIFT for the first time. Everybody had a great time and that's due to Kellenberg. Thanks much!

And of course, to end up in the finals against our friends at St Joe's was an honor and a privilege. I'm sure we'll lock horns again this year. ; )

Thanks to Bro. Nigel and Kellenberg for running a great tournament, which was a very fun (if long) experience for all. Congratulations to all the playoff teams, especially St. Joe's and Hunter A.

In terms of what's to be gleaned nationally from this tournament, Hunter ran straight through a pretty strong field here while missing York. We didn't personally get the opportunity to play them, but from the reports of those who did, they seem to be good at knowing stuff. As much as Hunter was the best team here, St. Joseph's was pretty clearly number two. Alex is an excellent player, but his supporting cast is strong and complements him well. Below those two, don't sleep on Ranney--Roey had a dominant game against us, and when he's on a roll, they can compete with almost anyone. He seems very dedicated to getting better, too. Finally, this was a nice showing for Westchester teams; we look forward to competing with White Plains for best team in Westchester (and second-best team in NY?).

Because so many teams left before the Playoff and Consolation Rds, the only way I can rank teams 11-40 is by Prelim record and P/B, so...
Record: Place - Team
6-1: 11th - Seton Hall A, 12 - Bergen A
5-2: 13 - White Plains B, 14 - Charter C
4-3: 15 - Irvington A, 16 - St. Joseph B, 17 - Bergen B, 18 - White Plains C, 19 - N Shore A, 20 - Hunter D, 21 - Chatham A
3-4: 22 - N Babylon A, 23 - Charter D, 24 - Millburn B, 25 - Ridgewood A
2-5: 26 - GNS B, 27 - Ranney B, 28 - Hunter C, 29 - Ridgewood D, 30 - Ardsley B, 31 - Ridgewood B
1-6: 32 - GNS D, 33 - GNS C, 34 - Ridgewood C, 35 - N Babylon B
0-7: 36 - OLMA A, 37 - Chatham B, 38 - N Babylon C, 39 - Locust Vlly A, 40 - White Plains D

'Til next year.

Since the combined stats do not report the combined PPB, I took the time to figure these out for all the rounds played by the Top 10 Teams, with the following results:

Team BH Total Points PPB

Hunter A 173 4215 24.36
Saint Joe's A 160 3470 21.69
White Plains A 104 2060 19.81 (these are now the correct numbers for White Plains)
Ardsley A 106 2185 20.61
Ranney A 116 2165 18.66
GNS A 124 2415 19.48
Hunter B 118 1920 16.27
Charter A 129 2460 19.07
Charter B 116 2180 18.79
Millburn A 104 1585 15.24

I think these are accurate, but if anyone spots an error, feel free to point it out.

I was going to ask about this, pretty much entirely because of my dumb web site. Is there any chance that statsfor the combined rounds beyond ppg will be posted in the future?
