There is a northern mirror being discussed with a certain potential host, with nothing yet finalized.

Field update. There is still plenty of room in the field, especially for teams from Champaign  . We'd also love to see more teams from the Bloomington-Normal area.

We are nearing a full field. Due to moderator constraints, we will need to put a soft cap of 16 teams and a hard cap of 18. If you are interested, please sign up soon.

Yes.

Mr. Coughlan at BHS has talked to some more schools who sounded like they wanted to come, so hopefully we can still get this tournament up to 16 or 18 teams.

We are in for one team as of now. Perhaps we'll plug in a second team. I'll let you know after this week.

With the addition of two teams from my alma mater, this tournament has hit its first cap at 18 (Carbondale has the 18th spot held at the moment). We will now begin a waitlist to try to hit another good number, ideally 24.

It turned out I had a date wrong and I can actually staff this tournament. I likely won't check this thread again, so just send me an email with details if you want me there.

Dunlap has been added. We will wait to see whether Carbondale can attend before closing the field, which will end up at either 18 or 20, barring anything unforeseen.

Carbondale won both finals games over Macomb A, Centennial A was 3rd, followed by Springfield A, Bloomington A, and Glenwood A.

There were issues with a slow reader really dragging the tournament, but other than that it went well. The questions seemed to go over much better save a few outliers.

It also served as a testing ground for the Mac version of SQBS, and Dr. Prince has the files for posting.

Okay, so I posted the stat files Donald gave me, but there seems to be an issue with the "Combined" page, so I only have Morning (including crossover) and Playoffs.

The story of the tournament is that basically no one could touch Carbondale and Macomb. Macomb was 10-0 and Carbondale 8-2 at the end (both of Carbondale's losses to Macomb), but since the crossover game in the morning did not count, an advantaged final ensued. Carbondale decided at about halftime of the first game to go on a tear and won both games from there to win the tournament. Excellent quizbowl was played by both teams. Although Macomb did not claim the title, they gave a very convincing argument that they are a Top 5 Illinois team.

Beyond those two, in the top bracket, I read for Bloomington, Champaign Centennial, Glenwood, and Springfield. Those matches were competitive. I was surprised at how Bloomington has been developing as a team this year, and considering that their A team was entirely freshman and sophomores, they have a lot of promise in the next two years.
