Never Say Never: Anything Goes (5/4 - 5/27)

Post by eliza.grames »

See below for the updated tournament announcement

This is an announcement for an awful trash set to be written by myself (Eliza Grames) and Melanie Keating. It will consist of 5 packets with 10 tossups and no bonuses, because everyone hates trash bonuses. The answerlines will be reasonable and gettable if you are moderately familiar with trash and have no shame, because we assure you that at least half of them will be trashy. Our aim is to create a delightful mix of trash that we actually enjoy and trash that is so bad you can't help but love it.

This tournament is postponed indefinitely until I find time to write bad trash questions.

Distribution:
Music pre-Funkytown
Music from Another One Bites the Dust to Genie in a Bottle
Music from Bye Bye Bye to Pokerface
Music from S&M to Moves Like Jagger
Movies that are so bad they're funny
Movies that are actually good
Movies that just came out
Disney movies that are not sequels
Reality TV at its finest
TV that is somewhat recent
TV that has significant cultural meaning
TV that includes cartoon figures
Things found on the internet
Comics (mostly Sunday, less action)
Sports with no actual sports questions
Mass media theory, dynamics, and players
Musicals (Broadway, off-Broadway and movies)
Trashy celebrities who have done something very stupid in public

Sounds enjoyable. I hope this is mirrored at MO so I can play it with Jerry.

This will now be a Sunday side event at MO, since Saturday is already full. People who plan on attending MO and are interested in playing should indicate if they want the event to run as singles, doubles, or teams, keeping in mind that it is tossups only.

Doubles. By the way, if there's nothing else on Sunday, I might be able to write a side event of my own so that people can have more incentive to stick around an extra day.

There isn't anything else on Sunday as far as I'm aware of and according to Andrew's most recent post. I can write something else to play too, maybe a myth or fine arts set that I can coerce Melanie and Robin into helping on.

I'd like to play this.

If there is "something else" happening on the Sunday, I'd prefer that the Trash be played first. I could then stick around for awhile and staff whatever the other thing is.

Trash, myth, and art are my 3 favorite things. No coercion necessary :]

This might be the first trash tournament I would absolutely want to play

Unfortunately, this set is going to have to be postponed indefinitely until I am less busy and have more time to write bad trash questions.

We've resuscitated this tournament for Cahoots. It's still going to be awful trash - in fact, it will be even more awful trash. We've switched it to 5 packets, 10 tossups, no bonuses (with the option for a part two if we don't receive hate mail for this set). The set has now become part of Cahoots, but it will be unedited so that Max can play the set. If for some strange reason someone wants to play this set but not Cahoots, shoot me an email.

New distribution:
Backstreet's Back: Preteen music from the 1990s and early 2000s
Trashy shit you hear on the radio
Movies that are so bad they're good
Movies you wish you had never seen
Take a paternity test... this category needs a daddy
Not another reality TV show category (but seriously, it is)
Sports (with no actual sports questions, because sports are dumb)
Rehab, DUIs, and white trash celebrities, oh my!
Things
More things

This set is now 100% done and will be part of CAHOOTS. If you're not playing CAHOOTS, I will email you a copy of the set if requested.
