So apparently I'm crap at time management, and while I can get the classical music side event done by this, it would probably be sketchier than I'd like. The responsible thing to do would be to postpone it. I have quite a bit done, so it's going to happen eventually.

With that, I suggest Mike Cheyne move his vanity event to earlier in the morning so that more people can play it.

I'm fine running my tournament (which will be six full packets--tossups and bonuses) whenever; historically, Minnesota has trouble getting Sunday rooms for the early morning, not sure if this has changed.

Is there a field for this? Also, I don't think "Laferbrook" is officially signed up for this, so please sign us up. Also looking for two more teammates

Hey all, I'm planning to cap the field at the current 11 teams. The tournament will likely consist of a full round robin followed by finals, unless there's a way to get a few more games in with 15 packets and 11 teams that I haven't thought of yet.

If you're willing to sleep on the floor (or possibly a chair depending on the layout of the room), you can crash in our hotel room.

I'm writing five rounds of trash tossups for DCC's alumni tournament, and should have them done in time if anyone wants to hear them at some point this weekend. Distro is 6 movie 6 music 3 video game and 5 other (TV, books, internet, etc) per round. People seemed to like the last iteration of trash I wrote that was played at KABO, for what that's worth.

A heads up for players (and for the Columbia site): this tournament will be played on packets of 21/21. The distribution for each packet is posted below (essentially we took the 24/24 submission distribution and removed 1/1 of each of the big three categories). I felt that it was fairer to have an extra question in each packet than to cut different parts of the distribution out of different packets. The MO distribution has always been a bit distinctive, so hopefully having 21/21 packets will allow everyone to play a couple more interesting questions over the course of the tournament. We will have a partial packet of extra editor questions in case there are ties.

12/12 Big Three
4/4 Literature
4/4 History
4/4 Science

3/3 RMP
1/1 Mythology
1/1 Philosophy
1/1 Religion

3/3 Fine Arts
1/1 Painting
1/1 Non-opera Music
1/1 Other arts

2/2 Social Sciences + Geography + Current Events
at least 1/1 Social Sciences
at least 1/0 or 0/1 Geography or Current Events

1/1 Your Choice
1/1 pop culture, sports, general knowledge, or additional/fringe academic [no more than one question on any given topic, trash is fun, but try some accessible creative ideas here]

13 (5 submitted, 8 editors). Editors 7 and 8 are intended as finals packets.

Considering the not-so-great stats put up at KABO and QUARK, which Canadian university is planning to host this?

I can confirm that the University of Ottawa is planning to host the tournament in mid-January. We are still finalizing the date (and of course wouldn't announce without final approval of logistics by the writers) but yes, U of O, January.
