TrashMasters at UT-Chattanooga 12/8/2012

Post by Your Genial Quizmaster »

Yes, Virginia, there is a TrashMasters this year.

TrashMasters 20 (!) will be held on Sat., Dec. 8, 2012, at UTC. Registration will begin at 9 AM, tournament at 10 AM. It's an open tournament, of course. The tournament set is being written by Editor-in-Chief Greg Weinstein with assistance from Robert Slade, so no packet submission is necessary. Base fee is $90 per team, with $5 discount per buzzer and $15 discount per full-time official. Teams may also get a $15 discount for each full-time official provided for UTC's high school tournament on 11/17. Please contact us at [email protected] if interested. Thanks.

If I am back up in NE Alabama and I find the time, I might have a team at this composed of some Mannor brothers and/or my usual crew members.

A contingent of players loosely affiliated with Ohio State will be driving down for this.

Any news on who will be attending? With less than a week away, I know of only 4-5 teams.

The Columbus contingent is still planning on being there, but our registration email has not received a response as of yet.

Re: TrashMasters at UTC 12/8/2012: Question change & field updat

Post by Your Genial Quizmaster »

IMPORTANT for those attending TrashMasters this coming Saturday: We have had an unexpected change in source material. The original editor has resigned, so we are switching to Plan B and mirroring the Bayou-a-Drank set. We apologize for any conflicts this might cause.

Also, John Kilby has generously agreed to handle K-Tel Hell again this year.

Here are the 7 to 9 teams we expect at this point:

Grote/Wells/Sekarik/Menke
Dion/Washick/Russell/Russell/Russell
Helton/Jackson/Riddle/Taylor
Franklin/Johnson/Kilby/Staley
Eric Douglass et al.
Louisville (1-2 teams)
Seth Kendall et al.
Delano Barnes et al.
UTC house team (space & schedule permitting)

Please contact me at [email protected] and copy [email protected] with any additions, corrections, or other questions.

This really, really sucks. I played in Bayou-a-Drank at the University of Maryland this past summer. AND I have already paid for a hotel for Friday night in Chattanooga. Is this the only contingency available?

Yes. And I'm not sure how many Bayou packets are left. I played the first 6 rounds at Maryland. If more have been written since, could we possibly combine the new Bayou packets with whatever Greg has written?

As far as I'm aware, there are now 10 Bayou packets.

There are 11 total, including Mike Cheyne's packet.

Edit: grammar.

For anyone I didn't reach by e-mail, the tournament has been moved to the EMCS building, on Palmetto between East 5th and Vine. UTC had three bomb threats this past week, so some finals had to be moved to today.
