BHSAT at Triton Spring (May 18): Co-hosted with Madison HS

Post by the cactus »

UCSD is pleased to announce our annual Triton Spring tournament, to be held on Saturday, May 18th, at Madison High School.

Questions: We will again be mirroring Yale's BHSAT set, which has great reviews in past iterations: see here for the details on the set.

Format: We will have be having 2 divisions, Nationals-level and Regular-level, to give teams that plan on attending national championship tournaments more practice against each other. If you qualified for nationals, you will not be playing in the regular division.

Location: This year's Triton Spring will take place at Madison High School, giving us more room to expand our field. Details will be sent to all registered team a week before the tournament.

Fee structure:
$80 for the first team from a school (teams consist of up to 6 players, with any 4 playing at one time)

$70 for subsequent teams (B team, C team, etc)

-$50 for the first team from a school that has never played a quizbowl tournament before

-$20 per competent moderator provided

-$5 for each functional buzzer set provided

To Register: Please send an email to [email protected] indicating your interest. Include the number of teams, the number of buzzers you might bring, and any moderators or scorekeepers.

Could we get information about the pricing structure and how many teams we can register before being waitlisted?

Arcadia intends to register. However, in abidance with Arcadia tradition, we probably won't have the logistical capabilities to provide a definite team estimate until the week before the actual tournament. At this point, it looks like we'll have 5-7 teams.

7 looks more likely, assuming none of the 29ish people signed up drop two nights before, the act of which is also an Arcadia tradition.

Hey sorry about the delay, but we've figured out the pricing (and the first post has been updated accordingly). Field size will be dependent on how many mods/buzzers we can get, so if you plan on sending a lot of teams, you should expect to provide enough mods/buzzers to offset.

Shouldn't Arcadia and NoHo be included in the Nationals Division?

On that same note, Rancho Bernardo and Francis Parker should have at least one Division I team since they're both going to HSNCT.

I am perfectly okay with the field listings as they stand now.

In all seriousness, three of our teams are going to be in Nationals division no matter what. Arcadia can bring 4-5 mods and another 4 teams for Regular division, but all that is contingent on whether or not we can actually track down enough rides for all 32 of us including mods (right now, we have exactly 19)

Thanks for the info, we probably should have asked teams to specify which divisions they were signing up for when they first registered (oops). We've already emailed some of those teams individually but we'll ask for confirmation on that when the final logistics email gets sent out.

How did this go? I can post the BHSAT set publicly once results are up.

So one of the players on Canyon Crest B has his name spelled wrong.

It is Keshav not Kehav.

Thanks
