12 prelim rounds seems like a lot. Did you mean 12 rounds total?

Also, this tournament's over our fall break, but some UNC players will probably be around to help out if you'd like experienced staff.

Yeah sorry, I was basing that off of the packets we were writing and I took replacements and a mashup round into account. It should be 9 prelim, 3 playoff.

Do you have any indication of your field composition yet? Dorman expresses interest, given that the field is amenable to our needs.

At the moment we have nobody registered, but we just added the tournament to the database so hopefully that will change. We will post updates as we receive them.

Update: East of Eden is on pace to be fully written and edited by the first week of October. We're still actively seeking registrations; a good number of teams have expressed interest in attending, but haven't yet sent in registrations. We'd appreciate it if teams that are planning on coming would go ahead and register so we have a better idea where we stand in terms of the field.

12 rounds are way too many. I urge you to reconsider. Early College just hosted a great tournament with 5 prelims and 4 playoff rounds. It was fair, provided a great competition and we got out of there in time to get home and resume our normal lives. Having 12 rounds adds about 2 hours. That's a very long tournament, especially for schools who aren't from the area and are facing a long drive home.

If you've already written your packets, you can always save some for next year so you will start with some questions banked.

If you changed to a 9-round structure, all the coaches coming would be very thankful.

We're definitely willing to reconsider this format, but note that the vast majority of teams would be playing only 10 rounds and would be free to leave before the final. The teams in the final would play an extra 1-2 rounds.

Assuming you still have a 13 team field, how are you planning on doing a ten round set of prelims?

Yeah, I'm not sure how many of the teams listed as "tentative" are planning to come (Salman would know that better). If we end up with a field size that requires us to readjust our schedule, we'll do that in a manner that guarantees all teams 8-10 rounds.

I understand there has been confusion vis-a-vis rounds. The original post hasn't been updated with the changing field, but https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... rZUE#gid=0 is the current bracket. I think it is very likely we will end up with a 14th team, but I think that will likely be it. It should end up being 10-11 rounds depending on the final, and most teams will be able to leave after 9 (though they are welcome to play final rounds if they choose).

Thank you so much for hosting this tournament we had a blast playing, despite minor delays. Is there a set discussion thread open for this set yet?

We apologize for the delays in statistics. The electronic copy of the playoff rounds is gone, so they have to be entered manually again. Congratulations to the four teams qualifying for NSC from East of Eden, Guilford A, Guilford B, RCHS A, and Enloe B. The stats should be up by tomorrow at the latest. Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience.
