We're aware of this; given that Cave Spring and TJ both held tournaments on November 16th and were each able to get full fields, we personally feel that the overlap is negligible enough to still run the set (we're planning on keeping this tournament small anyway, somewhere between 10 and 20 teams). However, if NAQT disagrees, we'll look into other options.

Aw man! We are playing Hunter College Prison Bowl that day...any chance for a date change? If not that's fine too...we may send some of our lower teams since our A and B teams are going for Prison Bowl and possibly our other teams as well...

I'm not sure changing the date of a tournament because one team is going to another that's 3 hours away is a good idea.

The problem is that 3/1 is the DE History Bowl, 3/8 is at RM, and 3/15 is another History Bowl event in MD, and anything after that runs into college nationals. I think the date needs to stand for now.

Actually (and I apologize for not editing this earlier), we are looking at prospectively holding our tournament on 3/29 (the fact that it coincides with ICT is not as much of a dagger for us), as 3/8 is most definitely a date we cannot use.

How should a team go about determining a regional? Is it simply by geographic distance? If so, I believe that virtually any school south of Howard County would fall into the UMD location, and that seems like an awful lot of schools.

The UNC Quiz Bowl team would like to invite interested teams in the DMV (and Delaware) to the Carolina Spring Tournament on March 22nd. It is intended as a warmup for HSNCT or NSC, and so we'll be using the NAQT Division II SCT set and using timed rounds in order to simulate HSNCT as much as possible. Unfortunately, this does fall on the same weekend as NAQT Virginia States, but we'd still love to have adventurous DC/MD/DE teams come down in March.

Hi everyone,

The University of Kentucky is hosting a Pre-Nationals weekend on May 10 and 11th on our campus in Lexington, Kentucky. On Saturday, we'll be using NAQT SCT DII with HSNCT rules, and on Sunday we'll be using the Minnesota Undergraduate Tournament with NSC rules. We may also have some Saturday evening event, though I can't promise that I won't cancel this for my own personal event, "Fred goes to sleep early in between the two quiz bowl tournaments he's running over a weekend."

For more details on fees and such, check our announcement at http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewto ... =1&t=15460.

We'd really love to have teams from this area attend, so please register if you're interested.

While I'm confirming tournaments,

Virginia Tech will definitely be hosting another tournament on 3/15 using IS-133A. I'll be TD'ing and preliminary questions (until I get a formal announcement up) can be directed to [email protected]

Since this is an A-set (and we didn't run a Fall Novice), I'm likely going to steal Fred's split division idea that worked well at UK's Fall Championship. Numbers permitting, there would be an upper division for stronger teams who would like to use the set as a warm-up for NAQT States the following weekend. The lower division would be for less experienced/less competitive teams.

I realize this is absurdly early, but UMD is going to claim 9/20/14 for our fall tournament next year. Set is TBA.
