Kings Park High School will be hosting its fourth annual Quiz Bowl Tournament on Saturday April 5, 2014 (200 Route 25A, Kings Park, NY 11754). We are centrally located on Long Island making it easy for schools throughout the tri-state area to attend. The location of the high school is 40 minutes East of New York City.

Questions
This tournament will use NAQT's Invitational Series set IS-135A. Questions are 20/20 format with 20 tossups in a round each accompanied by bonus questions valued up to 30 points.

The day will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m. and a complimentary breakfast in our cafeteria. The first round will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. The teams will be randomly bracketed to compete in five preliminary rounds.

The top performing teams (based on win-loss record) will proceed to a round-robin style playoff rounds. The top 10% of teams will qualify for the NAQT National’s Tournament. More information will be provided as registration forms are completed and returned.

Fees
Base fee: $80 for the first team and $70 for each additional team. There is no limit to the number of teams that attend from one school.
Buzzer discount: $10 off school's total fee for each fully functional system). There is no limit to the number of systems you can bring.
Moderator discount: $10 off school's total fee. Coaches, parents, and students all count so long as they don't play and have experience moderating.
Travel: $10 off the school's fee for every 150 miles travelled one-way from your school's address to Kings Park High School (utilizing Google Maps)

Registration
For this tournament, you MUST email [email protected] with the following information:
1. Your school and coach/advisor’s name (along with their email address).
2. The number of teams, buzzers, and experienced moderators you plan to bring.
3. A cell phone number from two people that will be attending the tournament. This is for last minute contact information. One of the cell phone numbers must be the coach/advisor’s.

Once your email is received, your school’s information will be updated on the forums. However, feel free to contact us if you need anything. If you know of any schools that would like to attend, just forward them the link to this announcement.

Payment
Payment is due on or before the day of the tournament. Beside cash, checks can be made out to “Kings Park High School.”

Food
A light breakfast will be served in the morning and there are available eateries in town in the afternoon. A list will be provided on the day of the tournament.

Just a reminder to all teams that are interested in attending KPAQT IV on April 5th. We are trying to get at least one more team to round out the number of teams to 32. Of course, all teams are welcome to attend, but we would like to close registration by Thursday April 3rd.

With about a week to go, we are looking to expand the number of teams from 34 to 36. If any school would like to bring a team or is interested in bringing a team or two, please let me know.

I just wanted to say thank you to all that attended today's tournament. I hope everyone had a good time!

After a tight race, Regis (Gotham) defeated Jericho A in the final championship match! Congratulations!
