WKU Fall JV Tournament (11-1-2014, Bowling Green, KY)

The WKU Academic Competition Club will be hosting the fourth annual WKU Fall JV Tournament on November 1, 2014. Last year we had an excellent field, and we hope that will be the case again this year. Alex Malone will be directing this tournament, but as with all WKU tournaments, you can register by simply emailing us at [email protected]

Location: Cherry Hall, Western Kentucky University (Bowling Green, KY)

Questions: We will be mirroring the SCOP Novice Set for the 4th year in a row.

Fee: $60 per team

Every school that attends must bring a buzzer system and a moderator and/or scorekeeper.

Payment: We would prefer you to pay on the day of the tournament, rather than sending a check ahead of time. We will accept cash or checks made out to the Academic Competition Club. We're willing to be flexible, but if we don't have payment at least two weeks after the event, we will attach a $20 fee to your bill.

Format: Details will be worked out as the tournament approaches, but expect it to be similar to past years.

Also note that this tournament is for teams of freshmen and sophomores. If you have a varsity team that wants to play at WKU this fall, we are hosting the Hilltopper Invitational on October 18 for all teams. You can register for that tournament by emailing us as well.

We're capping the field at 18 teams. We have 13 teams currently registered and several others interested, so please get your registrations into [email protected] if you want your team to play the tournament. Once we hit 18 we'll start a waitlist, so even when we hit the cap be sure to contact us so we can put you on that list. Teams always drop in the last few days, so if you're the 19th team please note there's a good chance a spot will open up for you.

Right now we have 12 teams. We'll do two prelim pools of 6, and then after lunch we'll re-bracket into two playoff pools of 6 although we'll be carrying over two games from the morning. After Round 8 we'll have an award ceremony and play a final if necessary.

Combined stats are up. Congratulations to Murfreesboro Central for winning our JV Tournament, to Campbell County for finishing 2nd, and to Manual A for finishing 3rd. Thanks to all the teams who attended and everybody who helped out and staffed the tournament. I hope everybody enjoyed themselves, and hope you'll all be back for our tournaments in the spring.
