NAQT Johns Hopkins Invitational - Baltimore, MD - 4.16.16

The Johns Hopkins University Quizbowl Team is pleased to announce the second annual Johns Hopkins University High School Quizbowl Tournament!

When and Where
Shaffer Hall, Johns Hopkins University, on Saturday, April 16th, 2016. Registration starts at 8:30 am in Shaffer 3 and the tournament will begin at 9:00 am.

Format
This tournament will follow official NAQT rules, which can be viewed at http://www.naqt.com/rules.html

Question Set
We will be using NAQT Invitational Series #154. Per the NAQT qualification rules, the top 15% of the field will qualify for the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament (HSNCT). Additionally, this tournament is Platinum Certified by PACE, meaning that the top 25% of the field will qualify for the PACE NSC.

Team Entry Fees
$70 per team (minimum of $40 after discounts applied), either cash or check only. Please bring payment on the day of the tournament. Checks should made payable to "Johns Hopkins University"

Discounts
-$20 for staffers, -$5 per working buzzer set.

Food
Pizza will be sold near lunch time, and various restaurants may be found in the vicinity of Johns Hopkins. To see a full list, please visit http://web.jhu.edu/cogsci/visitors/restaurants.html

Parking
Parking is available at the South Garage, at the flat rate of $8 for the entire day.

Registration Deadline
Please email [email protected] by April 10th and indicate the number of teams, number of buzzers, number of potential staffers. Please include "Johns Hopkins Quizbowl Tournament Registration" in the subject line.

Great news! We've received Platinum Certification from Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence, so the top 25% of the field will qualify for the PACE NSC!

One month to go till the tournament, and half the field is filled! To ensure a spot at the tournament, please make sure to get those registrations in as soon as possible!

After a nail-biting advantage final match, Richard Montgomery A defeated Thomas Jefferson A to win its twelfth (out of twelve) game of the day. For the second year in a row, congratulations to Richard Montgomery for going undefeated and for winning the tournament!

Congratulations to Richard Montgomery A, Thomas Jefferson A, Manheim Township A, Manheim Township B, Walter Johnson, and Centennial A for qualifying for the PACE NSC. An additional congratulations to Richard Montgomery A, Thomas Jefferson A, Manheim Township A, and Manheim Township B for also qualifying for the NAQT HSNCT.
