Not Another Trash Tournament
It's a dream come true. It's the moment you've always been waiting for. It's Not Another Trash Tournament. Prepare yourself for a tournament that goes where every other trash tournament has gone before, only further. Eliza and Melanie proudly present tossups on sports beefs, the token question on birds in Disney movies, and the cruelest tossups on the Bay Area that quiz bowl has ever seen. If you liked the Worst Trash Tournament Ever, who gives a damn. Play Not Another Trash Tournament at Side Event Weekend.
Warning: this tournament contains sexually explicit references, silly clues, colorful language, and possibly some brief nudity. Player discretion is advised.

Re: Not Another Trash Tournament
Actual logistical stuff now:
Distribution
4 Movies with a strong emphasis on Disney, female leads, and an odd mix of actually good and truly horrible things
4 TV with no theme but kinda distributed by decade
4 Music that's biased towards things that Eliza and Virginia like
1 Comics and trash lit that nobody likes
1 Video games as understood by someone who has only ever played Super Smash Bros and Donkey Kong 64 (and is bad at both of those things)
1 Sports by someone who actually likes sports but apparently didn't feel like really writing sports
1 Avians in pop culture requiring little to no knowledge of identifying members of Laridae by cycle
1 Fine art making tasteful appearances in pop culture
1 Things associated with the Bay Area, none of which are destroying the Golden Gate bridge
1 Super trashy things that appear on Bravo/E!
1 Whatever I feel like, which will probably mostly be tossups on "this action"
1 Tiebreaker, randomly distributed across the categories listed above, so don't end in a tiebreaker because you might have to know something about subspecies of raptors
Cost
$1/packet that we finish by the Side Event Weekend. We were planning on 10, but given that we pushed our timeline up, we may only finish 8 packets or so.
Where to play
At the Side Event Weekend, duh! If you can't make it that weekend or other sites want to host mirrors, email me at [email protected] to set something up.
EDIT: Distribution is now tossups only because that works better for Side Event Weekend.

Re: Not Another Trash Tournament
An update:
The distribution is altered to reflect that this tournament is now tossups only since nobody likes trash bonuses anyways and it works better for where it's being played. All answerlines are claimed, so you better take those descriptions seriously.
Tournament is about 26% complete, so we're roughly on schedule for finishing 10 packets (including tiebreakers) by August 1.
Poster finalization has now been postponed until after the drive to Chicago Open so Minnesotans can brainstorm during the awful drive across southern Wisconsin.

I hope some of that brainstorming is done in the only good thing about southern Wisconsin, the world's largest Culver's!eliza.grames wrote:An update:

The set is now complete and has 10 packets (all tossups) plus some tiebreakers. It is not powermarked yet, but if I find time to do so, it will hopefully be powermarked in time for the Side Event Weekend at Michigan.

Re: Not Another Trash Tournament
Some of the scoresheets are missing and presumably won't ever be found, but mostly complete stats are up for the University of Michigan site of this.

If you could amend the stats so that my phantom fourth game isn't on there, so history can appreciate the brilliance of my three-game run, I would appreciate it.

Whoops. This is now fixed and you don't mysteriously re-appear in round 7.theMoMA wrote:If you could amend the stats so that my phantom fourth game isn't on there, so history can appreciate the brilliance of my three-game run, I would appreciate it.

My ego compels me to point out that one of the missing scoresheets was indeed a defeat of the tournament winning team at the hands of our team.
