While officiating a middle school regional today:
Blah, blah...name this Newberry award winning book.
Answer: Memoirs of a Geisha
I tried to keep a straight face, and though I didn't laugh at her like the rest of the audience, I was likely turning a nice shade of crimson trying to hold it in.

I had to look back at that one because I wondered, "How could that kind of mistake happen?" Then again, the opening clue was about him being created as "an interesting man to whom extraordinary things happen," which actually sounds like it fits BETTER with Forrest Gump than James Bond.

Don't remember the context of these, but I found them when I was typing up some practice notes:
Incorrect: Taser
Correct: Euro
Incorrect: Oliver Twist
Correct: Remus
I know I made the first one, not sure who did the second one.

Wrong answer: Most Valuable Player Award.
Right Answer: Plantar Facitis
Our coach read something about Albert Pujols and Tim Duncan before our freshman buzzed. It was really funny after we found out the answer... and the category, which was medicine

Also from RM's tournament today:
Bonus: Given an element, identify its flame test color
Question: "Indium. Hint: Think about it "
(You know, because Indium is named for the color Indigo, so it's blue)

The reader had said "Pongo pygmaeus," then Alex Price, on It's Academic today, buzzed in and said "Waiting for Godot." The answer turned out to be Orangutan; the clue was apparently the scientific name for an orangutan.

Was my name really necessary to convey the stupidity in that buzz
?
I thought the host said "Pozzo" and not "Pongo"

I agree. The two answers are closely related. A worse neg on my part was saying "Scientology" for "Christian Science."

NAQT put up Podcasts of all the questions last year, I don't think talking about one question could do much more harm.
