Oxford Open @ Carleton (8 June 2019)

Post by Missing Shade of Blue »

Carleton University (the one in Ottawa) will be hosting a mirror of Oxford Open on 8 June 2019. As the name might suggest, it is an open tournament, of regular difficulty: more information on the set can be found at its global announcement.

Location and Time
The tournament will start at 9:00 (so teams should arrive around 8:30), at an as yet undetermined location at Carleton in Richcraft Hall. The control room will be room 3112

Registration and Fees
To register, email me at ian.dewan AT carleton.ca, with the discounts you wish to claim.

The fee schedule is as follows:
Base fee: $120
Shorthanded discount: -$15/missing player
Buzzer discount: -$10/set
Staff discount: -$10/staffer

Side Events
Eyes That Do Not See X and CANONEXPANSION will be played shortly after the main tournament, and will be free of charge,

Look at This Photograph will be played on Sunday (9 June) at the same location, but starting at 10:00 (please arrive by 9:30). The fee will be whatever Erik asks you for.

Since I will have moved back to Ottawa by this point, and have not played any Oxford Open mirrors this year, I will be interested in being a free agent for this tournament. Please approach me if interested, o Canadian people.

Disclaimer: crude estimates below.

Eyes is after Oxford Open, so I'll estimate a 5 PM start time on Saturday. It should last about 2 hours.

Photograph should start at 9-10 on Sunday and last for about 3 hours.

I, in the logistics email, wrote:Hello all,

Thank you for coming to Oxford Open at Carleton; we look forward to seeing you! This email contains some logistical information: please make sure that information gets to all members of your team.

The tournament will be held in Richcraft Hall (né River Building); the control room will be room 3112. A map of the campus is available at <https://carleton.ca/campus/map/>. Games will start at 9:00, so please arrive around 8:30.

We have approximately six teams, after taking into account all free agents, so the format of the tournament will be a double round robin followed by (advantaged) finals as necessary. This is subject to change, however, depending on the circumstances on the day, so please arrive early enough to be informed of the final schedule.

Eyes That Do Not See and CANONEXPANSION will start shortly after the end of the main tournament, and will be free of charge. Look at This Photograph will start at 10:00 on Sunday in the same location as Oxford Open (please arrive by 9:30), and will subject to whatever fees Erik sees fit to impose.

If you have any questions, or issues arise on Saturday, please contact me either by email, or at [Harm to Ongoing Matter].
Thanks,

Thanks to Ted, Ian, Joe, and the staff for organizing this event. It was quite well-run, a lot of fun, and a wonderful and welcoming way to get back into the game.
