RAFT Available for 2019-2020 Mirrors (HS Regular)
This is a mirror announcement for the Regular Academic Fall Tournament (RAFT), a high school regular-difficulty set available by October 1, 2019. Questions will be written by experienced high school and collegiate players from a variety of programs.
I, Michael Borecki, will be head editing this set. I plan on aggressively sticking to a goal of having this set 100% written by Labor Day weekend, giving us time to edit, packetize, and playtest prior to our first mirrors.
Our subject editors are Anson Berns (Visual Fine Arts), Colton Sanden (American & European History), Iain Carpenter (Science, Auditory & Other Fine Arts), Ashish Kumbhardare (Geography, Ancient & World History), James Stevenson (Philosophy, Social Science), Ruel Beresford (Trash, Current Events), and Mitch McCullar (Literature). We are still looking for a Religion/Myth editor; interested parties should reach out to me. In addition to these editors we have a large team of writers from different schools.
RAFT will have 14 packets of 21/20 powermarked tossups and bonuses (the 21st being a tiebreaker tossup) that will be ready by October 1. The mirror fee is $10/team.
Tossups will be 550-650 characters long. Bonuses will not be capped, but most will be 5-7 lines of 10-point Times New Roman distributed between the lead-in and each part.
If you are interested in mirroring this set, please email me at mborecki AT (@) Bowdoin.edu.
Our distribution is as follows:
4/4 History (1/1 each of American, European, World, Other)
4/4 Science (1/1 each of biology, chemistry, and physics, plus 1/1 of math & other science)
4/4 Literature (1/1 American, 0.85/0.85 British, 1/1 European, 0.7/0.7 World, 0.45/0.45 Classical)
3/3 Fine Arts (1/1 each of Painting/Sculpture, Classical non-Opera Music, and Other Fine Arts)
2/2 “Beliefs” (1/1 each of Religion and Mythology)
1/1 “Thought” (0.5/0.5 each of Philosophy and Social Science)
1/1 Geography and Current Events (0.5/0.5 each)
1/1 Trash (pop culture & sports, with a strong focus on the former)
EDIT: As of July 22, this set is 56% written.

Re: RAFT Available for 2019-2020 Mirrors (HS Regular)
FYI, the University of Illinois ABT has announced their Earlybird tournament for September 28th*, which pushes your first mirror up by two weeks.
* - October 12th would conflict with the coaches association's statewide novice tournament.

This has been corrected. In that event, I'm open to running other mirrors on 9/28 if there are any other tournaments looking for a housewrite that weekend.the return of AHAN wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 11:19 am FYI, the University of Illinois ABT has announced their Earlybird tournament for September 28th*, which pushes your first mirror up by two weeks.

Bonus #1 in round 5 needs to be fixed. Read it and you'll see why.
EDIT: I also have an issue with TU #7 in round 6.

We have a few mirrors scheduled for April, but if they fall through due to COVID-19 we are prepared to offer a discord mirror for interested teams.

Are there any plans to post the packets for this set?
