EFT Discord Mirror (9/21)

Post by naan/steak-holding toll »

This is an announcement for an open Discord mirror of the 2019 Early Fall Tournament for purposes of playtesting, to be held on Saturday, September 21st. The fee for this tournament is $60 per team, with no discounts and the preliminary field cap will be 12 teams. You may sign up for the tournament here.

As this is an open tournament, we encourage any and all players to participate in this event! In particular, this year we are looking to have teams of a wide variety of strengths play this tournament in order to get some better data and a wider range of opinions. Previous iterations of online EFT mirrors have been dominated heavily by teams with 20+ PPB. If you're a high schooler who is interested in trying out harder questions, but whose teammates might be averse to such questions, we hope you consider playing this tournament, which might be a good place to try such questions out with like-minded individuals.

Our tentative start time for this event will be 10:00 AM EST.

I'm looking to hire a tournament director for this event. Your responsibilities will be to make sure the event runs smoothly and organize enough competent staff to do so. By competent staff, I refer to people who can consistently both moderate a Discord round and keep stats at the same time and finish each round in 45 minutes or fewer (we will not be hiring scorekeepers). Staff wages are fixed at $40.

Your compensation for being tournament director will be 25% of tournament profits (equal to mirror fees minus moderator pay) - note that if you moderate, you will also be paid the $40 wage for moderating. Ophir will be handling the Discord room setup and stats so you don't need to worry about either of those.

PM or DM if interested.

I am running this show now.

Looks like we'll go with a field cap of 8 teams for this tournament, barring additional signups. We still need a TD! no we don't anymore

Since I'm staffing now, we should be able to accommodate a ten-team field, making for a clean 9-round RR.

EDIT: Doesn't look like we'll need to, though,
