Allderdice Quizbowl is thrilled to announce our 6th annual high school quizbowl tournament, Allderdice Invitational VI. The tournament will be hosted at Taylor Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh, PA on Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 9:00 AM to roughly 4:00 PM. Registration will run from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM, so teams should arrive by 8:30 at the latest. A schedule including order of play and divisions will be distributed at registration. Update: we are now a platinum NSC qualifier, meaning that teams that place in the top 25% will qualify for the PACE NSC.

Questions & Format:
This tournament will be using Wayzata Academic Invitational Tournament (WAIT), a regular difficulty high school set, comparable to NAQT’s IS sets in difficulty. More information about the set can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=109&t=22850&p=360579. Any team that has previously played WAIT is ineligible for this event. This event will use untimed, 20 question rounds and will NOT include computational math.

There is a soft cap of 18 teams with the potential to expand the field pending staff and buzzer availability. Teams will be grouped into separate brackets for morning game play, then re-bracketed into upper, consolation, and lower consolation brackets depending on their morning performance. All teams will be guaranteed a minimum of 10 games and prizes will be awarded to the top teams and players.

Registration & Fees:

Additionally, please include rosters listing each player's full name on each team in an email to dicequizbowl [AT] gmail [DOT] com by January 31st. Any additional questions can also be sent to that address. Once the field cap is reached, any additional teams will be placed on a waiting list until the field is expanded. Registration closes on January 25th.

Base Fee:
+$65 to your school's total fee for the first team registered
+$60 to your school's total fee for each additional team registered

Buzzer Discount: -$10 to your school's total fee for each fully functional buzzer system. A fully functional buzzer system must indicate which player has buzzed, and have at least 8 fully functioning parts.

Staff Discount: -$10 to your school's total fee for each experienced staffer. Staffers will be expected to moderate and keep score. All staffers interested in moderating will be used at the discretion of the tournament director.

Distance Discount: -$10 to your school’s total fee for traveling a distance greater than 150 mi. one way according to google maps from your school’s address to Taylor Allderdice High School.

New Team Discount: -$20 for each team from a school that has not played a weekend pyramidal quizbowl tournament since September 1st, 2016.

The minimum fee per team is $40.

Payment:
Payment must be received by the day of the tournament in the form of cash, personal checks, or checks from the school. All checks can be made out to "Allderdice High School". Invoices will be provided to schools upon request. Our mailing address is 2409 Shady Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15217.

Food:
There are several eating options located nearby Allderdice, particularly on Forbes Ave, Murray Ave, and Forward Ave. We will be selling snacks and pizza at the school as well. We will send out an email closer to the tournament about buying pizza.
