EFT Mirror @ ASU (10/26)

ASU is excited to announce that it will be hosting a mirror of EFT on Saturday, October 26, 2019! The tournament will take place on ASU’s campus.

The main announcement for the set can be found here: https://hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=22625. While ASU’s mirror will most likely be closed, high school teams are welcome to play.

Location/Logistics:

The tournament will be held on the first floor of Wexler Hall. A map of ASU’s campus can be found here: https://www.asu.edu/map/pdf/asu_map_tempe_current.pdf. Free parking on the weekends can be found nearby at the Fulton Center or the Tyler Street structure.

Registration will begin at 8:30AM at Wexler A103, and games will begin around 9:00AM.

Fee Structure:

$70 Base Fee
- $10 High School Discount
- $5 Working Buzzer

If you are writing a check, please address it to Sun Devil Quiz Bowl Club.

Registration:
To register, please email [email protected] with your school name, the number of teams, the tentative roster for each team, the number of buzzers, and an emergency cell phone number. Please email us should you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you so much to all the teams that made the trek all the way to Arizona State for this tournament. UCSD defeated ASU in a 320 - 205 1 game final to win the tournament, so congratulations to UCSD! I apologize for all the unexpected hiccups during the tournament, but we still hope that everyone had fun!

Thanks to Bryan, Joe, and ASU for running an efficient and enjoyable EFT!

The one thing that was not so enjoyable, however, was the fact that two teams left before the end of the tournament. This resulted in several teams only getting to play 7 meaningful games, since the 9 team schedule necessitated byes. Please please please do not do this! In addition to screwing up the schedule, it deprives teams of games that they paid for and expected to play. I understand that the travel times in our region can be very long (and college quizbowl is hard, especially for new teams), but if you sign up for a tournament you're expected to stay for its entirety, barring serious emergencies.
