2020 IHSA

Post by Irreligion in Bangladesh »

Regionals tonight; I wish everyone playing a great tournament! Question discussion is not allowed until every Regional has posted all their scores, or until I give an all-clear that I've got scoresheets from all the stragglers. You can always email me any comments at [email protected]. There will be a survey link for coaches and moderators given out at Regionals, as well.

High scores from Regionals appear to be a single-game 850 from Williamsville (in Class A's championship round!) and a total 2440 in three games from Uni High.

High score combined is "980" (Fremd-Hoffman Estates, with thirty of Fremd's points coming from a matchup-tops penalty) or 950 (Fremd-Hoffman Estates for real, or Stevenson-Fremd the next round) in Class AA and 920 (that Williamsville game) in Class A. Keep in mind that a perfect score is 960.

The IHSA has made an announcement in reaction to COVID-19, across all activities, including Scholastic Bowl.

Based on the wording of the announcement, I believe that this does not apply to Sectionals? Mr. Fischer, could you confirm this?

Sectionals hosts got an e-mail from the IHSA today limiting attendance to players/coaches/essential personnel, so this does apply to that. At least one Sectional host school has canceled and the IHSA is working on getting a replacement site set up (a la Loyola on Monday).

The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) announced on March 12, 2020, that it has canceled its remaining winter State Series postseason tournaments, which include Boys Basketball, Scholastic Bowl, Drama & Group Interpretation, Music, Debate and Journalism, over concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

I feel terrible for the kids in all the events.
