WAIT set available for Mirrors in the 2019-20 Season (HS Regular)

Wayzata High School Quiz Bowl is pleased to announce the Wayzata Academic Invitational Tournament (WAIT), a high school regular difficulty housewrite set for the 2019-20 season that will be available for mirrors from the weekend of October 19th to the weekend of May 16th (the weekend before HSNCT). Tossups will be capped at 600 characters and there will be 15 power marked packets of uniform difficulty. Packets will consist of 20 pyramidal tossups, 20 three part bonuses, and a single tiebreaker tossup.

The set will be headedited by Carsten Gehring. Subject editors will be Tora Husar (History, Fine Arts, Mythology), Geoffrey Chen (Science, Social Science, Philosophy), Joe Kammann (Literature, Fine Arts, Religion, Trash), Brian Sachs (Geography, Current Events), and Rob Carson (Fine Arts). In addition, Rob will also be advising us.

This set will be written by Wayzata Quiz Bowl members Ben Weiner, Brian Lin, Bryanna Shao, Cece Shao, Amogh Kulkarni, and Ashwin Halepet.

As of July 23rd, WAIT is now 75% complete meaning that we are on track to be done writing by early August. This will give us around two months to continue editing and make final changes to the set before it is able to be played starting on September 28th.

UPDATE: As of August 9th, 96% of WAIT is now written. We remain on schedule for September 28th.

UPDATE: As of September 22nd, all of WAIT has been written. The majority of the set has been edited and we have begun playtesting. Since our first scheduled mirror date is not until November 9th, we have decided to move the first date the set will be available for mirrors to October 19th to allow us more time to playtest and fine tune the set. The original post has been updated to reflect this. In addition, since August, Rob Carson has also officially joined the editing staff as a Audio Fine Arts editor.

My team is attending the Chattahoochee CATT XIV tournament on Saturday, November 9. Are there any previous WAIT sets out there with a different name, and if not are there any other sets to which you would say your questions are more similar?

This is the first year that a WAIT set has been produced (and thus the first set produced by this writing team); however, since WAIT is a High School Regular Housewrite, there are a wide variety of sets from previous years at roughly the same difficulty. I would recommend looking at last year's CAST or WHAQ III set, both of which are at a similar difficulty and have a similar (but not quite exact) distribution.

Barring the unlikely event in which I receive an additional mirror request before Monday, WAIT will be cleared and uploaded to the archive next Tuesday, May 5th.
