JHU HS Winter Tournament (2/13)

Post by hexagonman »

Johns Hopkins University is pleased to announce the Johns Hopkins Winter Tournament on February 13th, 2021.

Eligibility:
All Schools in Maryland, DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, North Carolina and West Virginia are able to participate

Location:
The tournament will take place online on Discord
Entry Fees and Discounts:
Base Fee: $65 per team
Staffing: -$10 per competent staffer (limit one per team)

Payment must be made before the day of the tournament either by cash or check only. Please make checks out to "Johns Hopkins University."

Format:
This tournament will follow official NAQT rules (which can be viewed at http://www.naqt.com/rules.html) with slight modifications on timing.

Question Set:
Our set is TBD, but it is likely NAQT IS.

Team and Roster Size:
There is a maximum of 6 players on a team; up to four members may play at once. We recommend no more than four members on a team, so that students may play the maximum number of rounds.

Team Limit:
Until four days prior to the registration deadline (February 2), only three teams from a school may register. Subsequent teams (up to an additional two, for five total) from the same school will be placed on the wait list. Following February 2, two additional teams from that school on the wait list will be moved off of the wait list and registered (assuming that there are spots still open).

Registration:
To register, please fill out the following form (https://forms.gle/bwFPDgdvhSLMNbVi8) by February 6th. The field will initially be capped at 12.

Timeline:
Here are some important dates:
February 2, 2021: Multiple Team Deadline
February 6, 2021: Registration Deadline
February 10, 2021: Roster Deadline
February 13, 2021: Tournament Date

Feel free to contact us at [email protected] for any reason.

NOTE: We will likely be using IS-201, the same set as the VA + PA state championships. Teams from those states are strongly discouraged, but not barred from registration.

Field Update As of 2/4/2021 (12/12)
Team (# of teams/# of staffers)
Richard Montgomery (3/0)
East Chapel Hill (1/0)
Gunston (2/1)
Georgetown Prep (1/0)

I did not know of the conflict on the IS set and the VHSL questions when I registered.

So Fort Defiance will not participate.
