Hello everybody!
I’m Ali Ahmed, co-president of the Edison High School Quiz Bowl program. Edison High School is proud to announce that we are hosting our first quiz bowl tournament, the annual Eagles' Academic Spring Tournament (EAST) on Saturday, March 27th, 2021 on Discord. It will serve as a qualifier for NAQT's High School National Championship Tournament (HSNCT).

Rules: We will use standard NAQT timing rules with 20 tossup/bonus cycles and no timed halves. Five seconds will be allotted for answering tossups, and ten seconds will be allotted for answering bonuses unless otherwise stated. We will not use computational math tossups but we will allow computational math bonuses. As is standard, a maximum of 4 players will be allowed to play at a time, with 2 additional players allowed for substitutions. Substitutions will be allowed at halftime for each round.
Eligibility: This tournament will allow schools from the New York Metropolitan Area (NJ-NY-PA-CT) to compete, however we will allow out-of-region schools to compete on a case-by-case basis. We will NOT be allowing chimera or open teams at this tournament. Students must be enrolled at a high school in the New York Metropolitan Area to compete in this tournament.
Food and Schedule: Given this is an online tournament, no food services will be provided. If all goes to schedule, we will start at 09:00 EST, but will require teams to join the Discord server at 08:40 for introductory announcements and crucial information. From there, we will host Lunch at Round 5 and then finish the tournament. Scheduling will be discussed in depth after registration.
Registration and Fees: Registration will occur through the NAQT system.

The following fee structure will be used:
$65: first team
$55: Each additional team(s)
We currently have a cap of 16 teams, but we may consider expanding if there are more teams. Because of the limited field size, we ask that each school only bring one additional team to this tournament. Schools may sign up a third team, but the third team will be placed on the waitlist and will only be allowed to participate if the field does not fill by the registration deadline. Furthermore, we will require that all teams submit rosters by March 20th, or one week before the tournament. This is to ensure that we can create balanced schedules for the tournament in advance.
The registration deadline for this tournament is March 6th, 2021 at 11:59PM. We will email payment information to all teams after you register. Payment will also be due one week before the tournament, by March 20th.
