Tournament Directors:
Aum Mundhe, Joseph George, Yash Mandavia, and Aalok Bhattacharya will be directing this tournament.
Date: November 13th, 2021 at 09:00 EST
Set:
This tournament will be using SCOP Novice 11, a novice level set. It is meant for inexperienced players.
Rules:
We will use the ACF Rule Set with 20 tossup/bonus cycles, as well as noting 15 point powers because the questions are powermarked. Five seconds will be allotted for answering tossups, and eight seconds will be allotted for answering bonuses unless otherwise stated. As is standard, a maximum of 4 players will be allowed to play at a time, with 2 additional players allowed for substitutions. Substitutions will be allowed at halftime for each round.
Eligibility:
This tournament is for students from schools located in the New York Metropolitan Area (NJ-NY-PA-CT). We will NOT be allowing chimera or open teams at this tournament. Additionally, this is a novice tournament, so we have listed eligibility rules listed below:
- You must not have scored over 50 PPG at any high school tournament
- You must not have averaged over 2 powers per game over the course of any high school tournament
- You must not have placed in the top 25 teams of MSNCT
- You must not have been a member of an HSNCT playoff team or a team which finished in the top half of PACE
- The TD team reserves discretion to remove players whom they do not deem novice.
Schedule:
We will start at 09:00 EST, but will require teams to join the Discord server earlier for introductory announcements and crucial information. Scheduling will be discussed in depth after registration. Each team will be guaranteed to play at least 10 rounds during the tournament.
Registration and Fees:
Registration will occur through this Google Form: https://forms.gle/dxMVWs5UXxe8myFB7
Fees:
$60 per team
-$30 discount for bringing a team-affiliated staffer (Maximum of 1 team-affiliated staffer per school)
We currently have a cap of 24 teams, but we may consider expanding if there are more teams. Because of the limited field size, we ask that each school only bring one additional team to this tournament. Schools may sign up a third team, but the third team will be placed on the waitlist and will only be allowed to participate if the field does not fill by the registration deadline. Furthermore, we will require that all teams submit rosters by November 6th, or one week before the tournament. Rosters will be limited to 6 competitors per team.
The registration deadline for this tournament is November 6th, 2021 at 11:59PM ET. We will email payment information to all teams after you register. Payment will also be due before the tournament, by 9:00 AM, November 13th.
Independent Staffers:
Staffers independent of a competing team will be given a stipend of $30 or community service hours. If you have any questions about staffing, please email [email protected]. To sign up to staff, please fill out this form:
