2022 C++ Announcement (Winter 2022, 2 Dot)

Cornell Quizbowl and Columbia Quizbowl are excited to announce C++, a medium difficulty/2 dot question set to be played Winter 2022. This set will be jointly written by members of the Cornell and Columbia University Quizbowl Clubs. We plan to produce 14 packets of 20/20, plus tiebreakers. Tossups will be capped at 7 lines in 10 point Times New Roman pre-powermarking, and bonuses will be capped at 8.

This set will be head edited by Raymond Wang and Amogh Kulkarni (Chicago). In addition, the set will be subject edited by the following:

Nathan Zhang: American Literature, World/Other Literature, Visual Fine Arts, Philosophy, Logistics
Raymond Wang: European Literature, British + Canada/NZ/Australian Literature, Classical Music + Opera, Other Fine Arts
Dennis Beeby: History
Dan Ni: Chemistry, Other Science
Allan Lee: Biology
Geoffrey Wu: Physics, Other Science
Geoffrey Chen: Social Science
William Groger: Religion, Mythology
Benjamin McAvoy-Bickford: Geo/CE/Other

The set distribution is as follows:

4/4 Literature: American, British + Canada/NZ/Australia, European/Classical, World/Other (misc, criticism, nonfiction/essays)
4/4 Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Other
4/4 History: American, British/European, World, Ancient/Other/Historiography
3/3 Fine Arts: Visual, Classical Music + Opera, Other (jazz, world music, fashion, dance, etc.)
2/2 Thought: Philosophy, Social Science
2/2 Belief: Religion, Mythology
1/1 Geo/CE/Other

We are pleased to announce that Dennis Beeby (formerly of Queens) and Benjamin McAvoy-Bickford (UPenn) will be joining us as History and Geo/CE/Other editors, respectively. In addition, this set will be jointly head edited by Amogh Kulkarni (Chicago) and Raymond Wang (Cornell).

We are excited to announce that we are now 50% complete with the set, with an anticipated starting date for mirrors of December 3, 2022. Mirror fees are $45 per team. We are looking for hosts in the following regions:

Open Playtest Mirror: C++ Team (November 20, 2022)
Northeast: Columbia (February 25, 2023)
New York: RIT (February 25, 2023)
Upper Mid-Atlantic:
Lower Mid-Atlantic: Virginia Tech (February 25, 2023)
Southeast:
Great Lakes: OSU (March 18, 2023)
Midwest: Illinois (January 21, 2023)
South Central:
Northern California: Stanford (TBD)
Southern California:
Canada: Toronto (January 14, 2023)
High School: Reinstein Varsity (December 17, 2022)
Online High School Open Mirror: Johns Hopkins University (March 4, 2023)

Is this still happening? Doesn't seem to be a lot of announcements of mirrors and so on.

It is still happening. Some mirrors (such as the Midwest) are not finalized due to likely being played early next year. However, indeed, we are still looking for hosts in many of these regions, so potential hosts are still encouraged to reach out to us!
