CO Trash online mirror (Sunday, October 9)

Post by theMoMA »

This is the announcement for CO Trash online, to be played on Sunday, October 9. Thanks to all those who responded to the date poll; it appears that October 9 is a good date for the most people (apologies if you're one of the few for whom that's not the case).

Logistics

In recognition of the various time zones of our players, the tournament will begin at 10:30am Central time (11:30am Eastern/8:30am Pacific). We will play 10-12 prelim games, followed by finals if necessary, with the exact amount of games depending on the final field size. (There may be multiple iterations of a round robin.) We'll circulate a schedule before the event.

There will be a short lunch break, likely about a half hour, and we ask that players make quick lunch plans in advance so the tournament doesn't last too long for our East Coast (or possible British) players.

Cost

The tournament will cost $25 per player. We'll circulate payment instructions in advance of the event.

Team formation/registration

The team formation sheet is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0

Follow the instructions on the sheet about emailing me when you're registered.

Online logistics

We will contact teams in advance of the tournament about the meeting program and links. Players are expected to be on screen during gameplay. We will enforce commonsense anti-cheating measures such as asking players to have their hands visible during gameplay.

Staffing

If we have more than 6 teams, we'll need additional staffers. Please contact me at [email protected] (and put yourself in the team formation sheet in the appropriate column) if you're interested in staffing, but please recognize that we may not need staffers beyond Rob, Carsten, and me.

Is it intentional that "what weekends won't work for you" is single select?

Rob, Carsten, and I are probably going to decide on a date for CO Trash online tomorrow, so get your date preferences registered in the poll tonight!

I've edited the details of the online mirror to make the initial post into an announcement. Looking forward to seeing many of you on October 9!

It's possible we will need one or two moderators after all; please indicate your interest on the team formation sheet if you might be able to staff!

Keep signing up! We've got ten teams, many of which need a fourth player, but it would be great to know if we're going to get to twelve or beyond so we can figure out how many staffers we'll need.

We're in need of 2-3 staffers now, so please email me at [email protected] if you're interested in reading (and a $30 stipend).

We could use one additional team to get to 12; if we hit that number of teams, we'll close the field, otherwise we'll have 11 teams and a bye. There are still a few free agents as well, so teams with open spots should look to fill those soon.

One of our staffers had to drop, so we very much need an additional moderator. Please email me at [email protected] if you're available!

Congratulations to Iain Thoms, Jason Sterlacci, Aaron Kessler, and Daniel Cohen, who defeated Mike Bentley, Jack Brounstein, Charlie Rosenthal, and Sally Neumann in the thrilling final round of the playoffs to clear the field and avoid a one-game final.
