IQBT Claude Shannon Invitational - CANCELED

International Quiz Bowl Tournaments, LLC (IQBT) is pleased to invite your high school team to compete in the Claude Shannon Invitational. This tournament will take place on Saturday, April 15, 2023.

This tournament will be played on IQBT’s Undergraduate Championship set. This set is approximately the same difficulty as IQBT’s NASAT tournament, and is intended to be more difficult than either NAQT HSNCT or PACE NSC.

Each tournament will consist of eight rounds. The Claude Shannon Invitational and the Ray Tomlinson Invitational will use eight different rounds of the set, so teams can participate in both events. Depending on the number of teams involved, we will use either round robin or Swiss pairs scheduling.

Each match will consist of 20 tossups and 20 bonuses. Teams may consist of up to six players, with four players playing at any one time. Teams with less than four players are allowed.

We will be using Zoom as our platform. Zoom requires the owner of an account to be at least 16 years of age.

We will pursue PACE certification as a qualifier.

The entry fee is $90 per team. There is a staffing discount of $50 per staffer offered; staffers must be at least 18 years of age and have prior experience moderating high level quiz bowl. Staffing discounts are granted at the discretion of the tournament director.
