The tournament will take place at 320 E Foothill Boulevard, in the R. Michael Shanahan Center for Teaching and Learning (the big glass building at Harvey Mudd). The opening meeting will begin in Room 2460 (second floor) no later than 8:45 AM and gameplay will begin no later than 9:00 AM. I, Tomás Aguilar-Fraga, will be the tournament director. Eligibility
As this is an introductory-level tournament targeted at less-experienced players, if you meet meet any of the following criteria you are ineligible to play:
- You have ever scored more than 60 points per game at a quizbowl tournament (excluding middle school tournaments).
- You have made the playoffs at HSNCT or top 32 at NSC.
- You have played ICT (DI or DII) or ACF Nationals.
Rules
This tournament will follow a modified version of ACF’s official gameplay rules, allowing for powers. Rules specifically pertaining to online tournaments have been rendered in blue. The soft field cap for this site is 12, after which teams will be placed on a waitlist. Please register as soon as possible, but by April 5th, 2023 at 5:00 PM at the latest.
Fees
- Base fee: $90
- New to quizbowl discount: −$15
- Travel discount: −$5 per 200 miles traveled one-way
- Buzzers: −$5 per functional buzzer system
- Staffers: −$25 per staffer with a functional laptop. Staffers must register in advance by filling out this form. Please bring staffers if you can! We would love to have some.
