2023 HFT XV @ Harvard (4/15/2023)

Hi all,

Harvard College Bowl is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the mainsite for 2023 HFT XV on April 15, 2023!

Logistics:
The tournament will be held in Sever Hall, which is located in Harvard Yard. We recommend using the MBTA Red Line to get to the tournament, as parking options in the area are limited and traffic can be unpredictable. Registration will begin at 8:30 am: we aim to hold the opening meeting at 9:00 am. There will be preliminary and playoff rounds, with rebracketing in between. A lunch break will take place when most convenient; teams will have access to a variety of food options in Harvard Square.

The exact format will be dependent on the final field size.

Fees:
Tournament fees/discounts are the following:
+$100 per attending team
-$10 per working buzzer system (must have power cord and 8 functional buzzers, maximum three buzzer systems per organization)
-$15 per experienced moderator with laptop (must be familiar with quiz bowl rules/scoring, and have good pronunciation, speed, and reading skills)
-$5 for every 100 miles traveled one way, rounded down (using distance from the school to Harvard University determined by Google Maps)
Minimum Fee: $40 per team

SPECIAL DISCOUNT: If we are able to reach at least 24 teams in our field, we will randomly select a team at the opening meeting to receive a $40 discount! Note that this is in addition to the other discounts (so if your team was initially slated to only pay $40, you will be able to play the tournament for free).

Registration:
The field size is initially capped at 24 teams, although the field size may expand if there is sufficient interest and staffer availability; all high school teams are eligible to participate. To register, email [email protected]. Please include "HFT Mainsite Registration" in the email subject, and specify where you are from, the number of teams you would like to bring, and any relevant discounts. Registrations are not complete until we respond in some fashion saying so!
