I've been passively working on a Musical Theatre Audio Set over the last two years. Each pack features 20 tossups. Each tossup contains 9 clips from a Broadway musical spliced together. Name the musical. It's that simple. Each tossup is about a minute in length. I am almost done the fifth pack (of 5 or 6).
If you are part of the small but mighty musical theatre QB community, this is definitely the set for you. If you know someone outside of quizbowl that loves musical theatre, this is definitely the set for them. If you are a seasoned trash player who has picked up some Music Man word association, this is probably not the set for you, but you're more than welcome to play.
I am biased towards older musicals and so the distribution looks something like the following:
3 Pre-1960
3 1960-1970
6 1970-2000 (Pretty evenly distributed)
4 2000-2010
4 2010-2021
As you may imagine, earlier clips in the tossup may be instrumental and/or from less well-known songs. As you may also imagine, a set like this definitely rewards breadth of knowledge over depth. I feel comfortable admitting that I have not tossed up Les Mis 6 times. People who know 5 musicals that aren't Les Mis will thus be rewarded accordingly. The clips also reward actually knowing the songs (instead of knowing of the songs). Scarcely, if ever, are the title lyrics of a given song included in the clips played. However, beyond these exceptions, the tossups are not intended to be overly difficult. Giveaways will be as giveaway-y as possible and I suspect die-hard fans of many shows will be able to to get the answer from the first or second clip.
My questions:
1) What's the interest for this?
2) Is five packets enough for people to want to play this or would I need to write a sixth or seventh?
3) Would people prefer something late this summer or sometime in the fall?
4) What setups do people recommend for playing the set?

I want as many packets as possible!
In seriousness, you could run this with at least 6 or so packets pretty easily on the QBlitz system that stuff like PAVEMENT and Dede Allen have run on. (If you want to do online format, which I assume you would).

1) Extremely yes,
2) as many packets as you feel capable of,
3) whenever you're ready -- don't rush if you need time to finish the set to your satisfaction,
4) yeah probably an online setup would get the widest and most competitive audience; in-person mirrors of audio tournaments tend to be pretty small

I'm certainly interested (and if I had to guess, some others in the Research Triangle are too). I would prefer an online tournament as an option, but I won't claim other preferences.

If this were online and at a convenient time, I would be in for sure.

Same here, I'd be very interested in this, if the time and format were convenient enough.

Echoing the sentiments of everyone else: would absolutely love this. As Mike suggested, QBlitz might be a good fit, though i'd be open to playing in any format.
