Early Summer Toronto Side Event Sunday (May 21st 2023)

I'm happy to announce that Toronto will be hosting mirrors of two tossup-only side events on Sunday, May 21st (following BHSU@Waterloo on Saturday). Both mirrors will be in-person, building TBD. We expect to begin the day at 9AM and end the day before 5PM.

In the morning, Toronto will be hosting the main site of Planet of the Guerillas, a guerilla-style film tournament. This tournament will be free, but in order to play, your team must submit a pack. A signup sheet can be found here and more information about the set can be found here.

In the afternoon, Toronto will be hosting a mirror of Shock of the Old, a "technology" tournament written by Mike Bentley. The price of playing is not finalized, but we expect it will be in the range of $15 CAD per player. A signup sheet can be found here and more information about the set can be found here.

We got through 11 official rounds of Guerilla film and (due to time constraints) played the remaining three packets as a shootout after the tech tournament. Congratulations to Jenny Mao, Rein Otsason, and Kevin Lei, who won the tournament with an 8-1 record! Congratulations are also in order for our top scorers: Erik Christensen, Kevin Lei, Milan Fernandez, Jared Cubilla, and Christine Irwin. Full results can be found here.

Thank you everyone for coming out and playing, and for writing your delightful questions. I'd especially like to thank Tim Morrison, Taylor Harvey, Sam Bailey, and Jeremy Tsai for writing their packets in time for us to play them, despite not attending this mirror---we had a blast playing them.
