BONoBo II (Socal online MS tournament)

Post by Lanzalot6 »

Westview High School is pleased to announce BONoBo II (“B”estview October Novice Bonanza) V, directed by Rahul Jogadhenu, Adarsh Venkateswaran, and Anvit Watwani. This will be an online tournament hosted using a google sheets tournament hub, combined with google meets for each room and buzzin.live for buzzing.

QUESTION SET: The tournament will have one middle school division, hosted on the NAQT set MS-47.

ELIGIBILITY:All Southern California Middle School teams may compete, and we especially encourage any teams new to quizbowl to compete.

DATE/TIME: The tournament will take place online, on Saturday, October 21st. We will have a general players meeting at 8:45 AM, before starting the tournament at 9:00 AM.

REGISTRATION: Teams must register through the Naqt registration system, here

PRICING:
Schools that have not competed in pyramidal-style Quizbowl competitions in the past two years will pay a flat fee of 50$.

There is a flat fee of 70$ per team.

DISCOUNTS:
- $10 per experienced moderator provided by a team. Please email [email protected] if you would like to claim this discount.

Minimum fee: $50 per team

Due to this being a school-sponsored event, unfortunately we will not be able to take digital payment. All fees must be paid physically, whether this be mailing a check to the school, driving to Westview to give payment to the Westview Quizbowl in person, or some other method. Please make all checks payable to Westview ASB, with Westview Quizbowl tournament noted in the check. Email us about getting the payment to us, and we’ll work with you to make the process as smooth as possible.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT AND RULES:
Teams will be allowed to have up to 6 players, but only 4 players can play at one time. Teams with more than 6 players will be asked to split into two teams. Teams will only be allowed to make substitutions at halftime. As this tournament is being conducted online, we will require all active players to have video on and two hands shown on camera at all times in order to prevent cheating. If there is a situation where players are unable to have their camera on, you must contact the tournament directors ahead of time for an exception. All cheating or other misconduct will be taken seriously.

We will be using official NAQT rules, with the exception that matches will be run as untimed halves of ten questions each. In addition, ACF rules will be followed regarding timing.

MISCONDUCT:Misconduct, including harassment and cheating, will not be tolerated at this tournament—all players, coaches, and spectators will be held to the PACE code of conductt, found here. Any incidents should be immediately reported to staff/the tournament directors, or through the anonymous misconduct form here.

INQUIRIES: Any inquiries can be resolved by emailing [email protected].
