Clock Stalling at Nationals
I have decided to make this post for two reasons. 1) I feel like this post fits best here and 2) this forum section is dying. So here is my question.
Should you clock stall on bonuses at nationals?
For example, if your team is up by over 100 points, should you wait all 5 seconds to answer? Likewise, if your team is down the same amount should you interrupt the moderator to answer?

Well it really depends. Once, at a state tournament, my team stalled the bonus in a tight match with like 30 seconds left. If you need more time, you could interrupt or skip a bonus if you know you are not going to get it.

Yes, especially late in the game. There are some old HSNCT videos where teams do this pretty well, if you want to see it in practice.quizbowlchamp1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 8:42 pm I have decided to make this post for two reasons. 1) I feel like this post fits best here and 2) this forum section is dying. Re: Clock Stalling at Nationals
Middlesex pulled this off on us at MSNCT It's actually a really good method though. While I don't approve of it it's an extremely good strategy.

Yup, this is a pretty common strategy. So is interrupting the moderator to answer if you're behind.

While it is a bit cheesy, I do like the strategy and plan to use it at MSNCT this May.

Wow I haven't been here in a while
But there is nothing wrong with clock stalling or rushing, at least I don't see. Even my coach sometimes practices "chase-downs", where in 60 seconds, my team and I have to get 60 points to match or beat the other team, since we start down 60. Sometimes we play against no one but simply 60 points, and this helps us learn when to rush. bonuses
