Beyond disappointing that none of the top 9 high schoolers in the country can name the Marlins' 2017 opening day starter. Just plain unacceptable. In all seriousness, Edinson Volquez has to be the craziest sports answerline that I've ever heard in an all subject quiz bowl packet. Was this tossup written in 2017 and kept in the bank for 7 years before being brought out for this year's IPNCT?

Interestingly, within the past 90 days, April 7 was the day when Volquez's Wikipedia page got the most traffic.

Can I see the tossup on the thirty tyrants? The moderator in our room said "3000 tyrants" for the answerline.

The IPNCT finals tossup on "solutions" erroneously refers to them as "these substances". Solutions are mixtures, which are composed of substances, but the two terms are definitely different (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemical_ ... s_mixtures).

Can I see the tossup on Joe Kennedy? I thought it was quite suspicious that Kennedy was accepted outright. It could have simply been me, but I knew the answer to be JFK's father early on in the question, but I was super hesitant to buzz during the entire question out of fear of a neg after a prompt. I was really surprised when someone next to me buzzed and got their answer accepted for just Kennedy. I don't know the exact rules for having to prompt on an answerline because it is not unique enough, but this definitely feels like a case for that. If this isn't the case, then you can accept Kennedy, for JFK, RFK, and Ted Kennedy, etc.

Besides this one question that has been on my mind, I really enjoyed the IPNCT set and thought it was very enjoyable. I am looking forward to playing the rest of the tossups that I missed during the tournament!

In DI, my teammate answered this tossup with just "Kennedy", got prompted, and couldn't pull the prompt. Were the answerline instructions different in the DI set?

Thanks! But may I ask, why is Croatia unacceptable after "April War," considering the April War being caused by a coup in Yugoslavia isn't stated as explicit to the answerline, but rather only that it was an invasion of this country, so I wouldn't it be not any more disambiguating than the first clue? Like shouldn't the prompt instruction still be valid for actions on the entirety of Yugoslavia if no information given is specifically wrong about Croatia and especially since Ante Pavelic's titles of rule were mostly in Croatia?

In the same vein as the complaints about the "Kennedy" tossup, I thought "Pelosi" being outright acceptable for Paul Pelosi was fairly questionable.

A bit late, but can I see the question on Australian Aboriginals, the moderator in my room said that something happened in October 2024, and that confused me a bit, as October 2024 is yet to occur

Yeah, they probably said 2024 instead of 2023, I know I actually heard it as someone else said they heard it
