Registration:
Teams may register through the NAQT website here; please email me (ashabasu3873 [at] gmail [dot] com) your team details as well. Registration is currently open and will close September 19, 2024 at 11:59 PM. Please make sure to register and finalise your rosters by then -- any registrations after this deadline may be declined at our discretion, and if you are registered after this point you will be liable for your team's fee.
Our field cap is currently 8 teams, with potential for expansion depending on staff, buzzer, and room availability.
Fees & Discounts:
(despite what the NAQT site says in the table, all fees are in CAD)
- Base fee: $100 CAD
- Staffer discount: -$10 CAD per staffer with laptop.
- Buzzer discount: -$10 CAD per working buzzer set.
- Shorthanded discount: -$15 CAD per team with less than three (i.e. one or two) players.
- New to quizbowl discount: -$15 CAD per team from a school which did not attend any tournaments between September 1, 2023 and September 1, 2024.
- Minimum fee: $60 CAD
Eligibility:
This tournament is intended for players who are new to quizbowl, hence:
Any player who has never played quizbowl before (History Bowl, Consensus, and Reach for the Top do not count) is automatically eligible.
Players who have played quizbowl before are eligible so long as they satisfy all of the following conditions:
- They have not scored over 25 PPG at a collegiate tournament (not including collegiate novice)
- They have not scored over 30 PPG at a high school tournament or collegiate novice
- They have not scored over 50 PPG at a high school novice tournament (including IS-A sets)
- They have not played university quizbowl (i.e. attended any recognised tournaments) before September 2023
- They have not previously qualified for or played at ICT or ACF Nationals
Note that this set has overlap with one of NAQT's high school sets; as such, no high school players or coaches may attend this tournament in any capacity.
Scheduling & Logistics:
The tournament will begin play at 10:00 AM; players should arrive by 9:45 AM for an opening meeting. Further details will be provided in a logistics email to all registered teams before the tournament begins. I look forward to seeing you all then!
