I'll throw my predictions in, why not? I'm totally not procrastinating on homework...
In no particular order:
Churchill
Hopkins
Smith
Riverwatch
Avery Trace
Middlesex (never bet against them)
Wild card: Hunter
This is probably all fake news though I don't follow MSQB as much anymore as I'm taking a step back from helping coach Richmond

Re: Too Early MSNCT Predictions
I'm bored so here are my (totally unbiased) predictions for MSNCT 2025
1. Hopkins (RIVERWATCHHH)
The t3 msnct team returns with their lead scorer Abhiraam Girish and their 4rd scorer Advait Duvvuru, and the science bee winner Avi Batra in turn
2. Churchill
The t4 msnct team returns with their lead scorer Kavin Anreddy and second scorer Adrish Bhattacharya, one of the best FA mains in co29.
3. (realistically) Riverwatch
2024 Msnct all star Suchet Kuturu, As well as t-21 rwms b team's second scorer Adhrit Gopi and almost singlehanded vanquisher of our perfect season record of losing to no one but river trail Nia Li, Riverwatch is my (biased) pick for the finals but realistically I can see them in the top 3 spot
4. Smith
Keeping an unchanged lineup from the t-8 2024 Msnct team, Smith is sure to cook
5. Avery Trace
Another t-8 team, Avery Trace is gonna be a powerhouse with Taylor Chen leading the way (I cant wait to see suchet vs taylor 2026 msnct finals)
6. Challenger-Ardenwood
Unchanged lineup from a t-21 msnct team, With 61ppg Arjun Singampalli Challenger Ardenwood will do insanely well
7. Rancho Milpitas/Burleigh Manor/Quest Academy
They all have really strong 7th (now 8th) graders and super 7 could go any way
1. Hopkins (RIVERWATCHHH)
The t3 msnct team returns with their lead scorer Abhiraam Girish and their 4rd scorer Advait Duvvuru, and the science bee winner Avi Batra in turn
2. Churchill

Re: Too Early MSNCT Predictions
here are my predictions because I'm weird even though i said it could be many teams earlier
1. Churchill A
Always a strong pick to do well at MSNCT but last year they got fourth place with two seventh graders Kavin Anreddy and Adrish Bhattacharyya leading scoring. Exceptional fine arts and hist scaling and very good at other categories. Not sure what the team will be this year but it's bound to be amazing.
2. Hopkins A
t3 at last year's MSNCT and though they lose second scorer Manu Cherukumille to the angry hands of high school the A team does include Advait Duvvuru (who did incredibly well at a recent IS-A tournament), Abhiraam Girish (who leads the team in scoring and had some incredible games during that tournament as well), and Avi Batra (science bee winner).
3. Smith A
Ahadi Yara, Alex Wright, and Jimmy Li are all very good players, and while I have not played with the latter two (though I know they're cracked), Ahadi is the most balanced generalist in MSQB right now and scales past regs+. Definitely a potential winner and I think they'll at least make s7.
4. Avery Trace
Taylor Chen got 8 powers at IPNCT as a sixth grader and went 41/58/5 at MSNCT, and his teammates are very good players as well, all getting between 10 and 20 PPG on Taylor's team. Also needed to point out that crazy neg control, as they had less than 1 n/g throughout the entire tournament.
5. Riverwatch A and Challenger-Strawberry Park
Riverwatch will definitely do very well - Suchet Kuturu can power two-dot literature and history, and Adhrit Gopi is very good at science but has knowledge across all categories.
Challenger-Strawberry Park graduates Karthika Jayakumar but retains some incredible players. I'm not exactly sure what categories Dhanyaa does but she's very very good, Samrat Vibhuti is in FIFTH GRADE and already knows many things, and Thiyagesh Venkatesan put up 25 powers at MSNCT on a team with Dhanyaa, Samrat, AND Karthika.

Re: Too Early MSNCT Predictions
Alright, here goes nothing...
1. Churchill I feel like this is a no brainer. They will retain players such as Pranay Bodducherla, Kavin Anreddy, Srijan Roy, Adrish Bhattacharyya, and Joshua Wu, just to name a few. All the players will (in my opinion) all get awards. This team is LOADED with talent, and I don't see why they won't win.
2. Riverwatch This feels like a very unpopular pick. I'm not saying they aren't good, but I don't think many people would put them second. They have the BEST 7th grader in the nation right now. Suchet Kuturu was good at nats (60 PPG), but he glowed up over the summer (65 PPG at MINT, which is a harder set). I think he will be the backbone of this team. If their coaches can find talent to surround him, this team will be stellar.
3. Smith This team (Smith B last year) was an all 7th grade team which put up PHENOMENAL stats. I will shout out Ahadi Yara and Alex Wright for putting up great numbers, put everyone on this team gives good firepower. This isn't a team who has one person carrying. This is a team where EVERYONE carries.
4. Avery Trace Might be unpopular to put them this low, but I think the above teams are better. That being said, this team will make a deep playoff run this year. Their top scorer, Taylor Chen, has the chance to be #1 scorer this year. He has competitors, yes, but he can do it. Taylor is a PHENOM. His 75 PPG as a 6TH GRADER is insane.
5. Hopkins This team will still be good, but they lost a LOT of firepower from last year. The plus is is that they retain top scorer Abhiraam Girish, who you'll wanna see.
Here is just a list of other teams I think will do well...

Re: Too Early MSNCT Predictions
Smith was the single most underrated team last season, and most likely the best team this season.
Ahadi is undeniably one of the if not the best generalist this season, and especially has deeper knowledge in subjects like literature and geography (and his teammates can also scale very well judging by stats).
With an unchanged lineup from last year placing t8, I argue that they are very strong title contenders this year.

Re: Too Early MSNCT Predictions
There's a lot of good teams this season, but I think I have my list.
1/2. Churchill
They keep depth in their main scorers Kavin and Adrish and also have support with Joshua and Srijan. They also got 4th last year. The reason they're 1/2 is..
1/2. Hopkins
Hopkins is a team that has been very similar for a long time in skill to Churchill, beating them out by a fairly close margin in the 3rd place game at MSNCT. They retain the GOAT himself Abhiraam Girish and Advait as well as some new people from the B team, notably Avi Batra who won the 7th grade science bee.
3. Smith
Smith is an incredibly balanced team with good scoring across the board. Not only that, but they also keep who I think is the best player in terms of generalism is in co29, Ahadi Yara. They are very solid pick who will do well.
4. Avery Trace
They keep Taylor Chen. Nothing much more to say.
5. Riverwatch
I may be self-glazing our team a little bit, but me and my teammates are confident that we will do well at nationals. My teammates are continously getting better and I think we will bring a good performance.
6/7 Who knows???
I think the 6th or 7th place teams could be anybody. We're still a year out, so nothing is very easy to predict.

Re: Too Early MSNCT Predictions
I thought I would go against the grain and make some player shoutouts/predictions.
Suchet Kuturu He is (IMHO) the best co30 player out there. His progress is just amazing. He went from 50 PPG on a level 2-3 set (https://www.naqt.com/stats/tournament/p ... id=1060030) to top scoring Georgia A at MINT, where he scored 65 PPG on 2023 CREEK, a level 4 set (https://hsquizbowl.org/db/tournaments/8 ... Riverwatch). I'm so excited to see where this kid ends up.
Taylor Chen An amazing co30 player. He put up 74 PPG at MSNCT and led his team to T-8. Also check out his IPNCT cat stats. Not only is he GOING TO IPNCT AS A 6TH GRADER, but he obviously has a very deep coverage of history and geography.
Ahadi Yara This kid is the most balanced generalist I've ever seen. I direct you to his MINT Cat Stats (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... 5860621470) where he shows that he can grab tossups from every category. Very interesting player to watch.
I will end the ramble here but feel free to add more.

Re: Too Early MSNCT Predictions
Hi guys! I finally joined HSQB and y'all inspired me to put in some of my own early predictions Also I'm actually not typing in CAPS! What???
- Churchill A: Really promising team and a lot of the 7th graders from last year have SO much potential like Kavin and Adrish. They are super balanced and good at most of the categories so I think that will take them super far.
- Hopkins: Hopkins lost Manu this year who was a really strong scorer over all, but with Abhiraam, Advait and Arjun who together are super good at geography, lit science and fine arts, I'm pretty confident that they will dominate the field
- Rancho Milpitas: I'm kind of biased for them because I've seen them grow and develop personally and practiced with them a LOT but I think they can beat a lot of the other good teams we have this year. Stavya, Shreya and Kashvi can take history lit and fine arts and Tejus and Parth are really good at science
- Smith A: Not even gonna lie Smith A has some good players I believe in, like Ahadi, who is a super good generalist and James. I think they will be able to do really good against a lot of the competition we have in this years field.
- Riverwatch: Suchet is an amazing player and I think he is probably one of the best right now individually in most categories, but he is the only strong player on his team from what I can tell so I really don't know whether he can beat teams that are more balanced in their players points wise.
Other teams I think will do well
- Avery Trace
- TH Rogers
- CSP
I don't know whether I should put Avery Trace in top 5, let me know what you guys think!!

Re: Too Early MSNCT Predictions
Hello fellas its time I give my predictions here for who will win the 2025 MSNCT. This took a lot of careful consideration with myself and the people at Smith and Chapel Hill over the last couple of weeks and we really think that the rankings will unfold almost exactly like this. Without further ado, the rankings can be found below, and will be updated throughout the year:
(1) Skibidi Toilet: This team unfortunately was not able to attend nationals last year due to a lack of funding and interest in the program. Fortunately I'm very good friends with the top scorer of this team, the very well known Wolfgang Gyattalicious Mozart III as well as the best Middle School player of all time by a wide margin. They have made huge progress over the last summer, achieving 900PPG at their most recent tournament, and coached by the legendary coach who was able to lead the previous champions to victory, Scott Fowler.
(2) Sycamore A: This team is honestly one of the best I've seen, and in terms of pure quality they might just be able to edge out THE Wolfgang Gyattalicious Mozart III in a game. However, they are coached by Evan Ting, so alas, they are doomed to get 2nd in the national championship
(2) Sycamore B and subsequent Sycamore teams They will obviously be able to get second place for the same reasons aforementioned as Sycamore A.
(3)Diddy Party: One of the most underrated teams this season. They placed somewhere in the top 5 at 2024 HSNCT (I don't really remember where, sorry) as a Middle school team! Just think how they will do next year. Also the new transfer student Suchet Kuturu has been performing extremely well as the lead scorer, averaging 299.74 PPG over the last 10 tournaments this summer. Excited to see how this team will at MSNCT this year.
These are all my rankings! Thank you!

(1) Skibidi Toilet: Wolfgang Gyattalicious Mozart is CRIMINALLY underrated and I expect great things from him and Skibidi Toilet Middle School
(2) Sycamore A: What! A team with ties to Evan Ting! Winning at nationals! NOOOOO. NO way.
(3) Diddy Party: Do I even need to say anything?
(4) Churchill because they got 4th place last year and Kavin and Adrish are still there.
(5) Hopkins because they got 3rd place last year and Abhiraam and Advait are still there.
(6) Riverwatch because Suchet Kuture is very good at quiz bowl
(7) Rancho Milpitas because they are a good team and Stavya "Stubby" Dangaria had very good stats at the last tournament I saw him play.
