Russell High School Tournament KY (9/13/08)

Post by mknupp » Wed Apr 23, 2008 8:12 am

Just wanted to let everyone know when our tournament will be next fall. We hope to have a large field. Basic info:

$50 for first team, $40 for second, $30 for third, every team past 3 is free.
We will probably change our format slightly this year, and hope to make it a PACE qualifier like last year.

More details as they are settled.

Is this going to be JV or Varsity?
What is the question format?
Thanks

We use a 4-quarter format. This year it will be
Q1: 10 quick tossups
Q2: 5 longer toss-ups with related bonuses
Q3: Give and take category round
Q4: 8 pyramid multi-sentence tossups

Q1 and Q2 have equal amounts of Language arts, Humanities, Science, Ss, and Math

Q4 and Q5 have no computational math.

I hope this helps.

We will have a JV division if we get enough JV teams (usually 6 is the minimum number.

Teams that have said they are intending to attend: (some are bringing both JV and Varsity)

Danville KY
Robinson NC
Eastern (Louisville KY)
Dunbar, KY
White Cloud, MI
Simon Kenton, KY
Northmont, OH
Bate MS, KY

We have space for about 40 teams or so. We will run a separate JV division if we get at least 6 teams (so far we have 4)

Our tournament is now a "Pace affiiiated" tournament. This means at least the top two teams will qualify for the Pace NSC.

Do not give me any credit for this. I'm not even in Lexington yet; this is all the kids and Susan Magedanz.

Fred, better leave me out of this credit, too. Seeing as how our advisor is not yet here, these players are pretty much running things! I would like to say that Knupp, and all the folks at Russell, ran an extremely well executed tournament! This is one that we'll certainly keep on our list every year!

I did not keep track of JV results as closeley as varsity, and don't have them to post. I am sorry about this and will be sure to do this for next year. We are so glad we had a record 44 teams from 4 states attend. Hopefully next year will run as smoothly.

Also, How did you like lunch? Were the tacos a good selection? Any suggestions?
