ITT suggest your handy memory tricks/devices

Post by rchschem »

For example, since Reubens painted several works with "cross" in the title, I picture Pee Wee Herman on the cross.

I also remember something about "Campbell's Onion Soup..." that helps with remembering the order of the geological periods.

I obviously don't remember it well.

We actually have a Kyle on our team... But, this little acronym came about a long time before he was on the team. It was quite humorous when I had a group of 8th graders playing the State Championship Round at ASCA 2002 and a bonus came up where they had to identify the class and order of (insert forgotten animal here). They very excitedly started conferring with loud exclamations of "Kyle, please come over for..."

I'm just glad they didn't want the genus and species...

But, hey, whatever works...

I think we learned it as

"Kyle, please come over for good spaghetti" but I always suspected that it was dirtier than that.

The OC tells me it's "King Phillip came over for great sex" so I go with that.

King Philip Caught Our Family Getting Stoned is how I do it.

We also started to get something for a bunch of the amendments last year, but I've since forgotten most of them.

For Mohs scale of mineral hardness:

Two good Cubs followed a(n) fat (obese) quarterback to Comiskey Diamond.

Talc, Gypsum, Calcite, Fluorite, Apatite, Feldspar (Orthoclase), Quartz, Topaz, Corundum, Diamond.

Of course, back when I was in eighth grade, U.S. Cellular Field was still Comiskey Park.
