That'd be a silly thing to do solely because of my presence. I have minimal coaching experience and am not really a good player.

It does sound like we have a promising base of players to work with though!

At the very least, I think Fred's coaching will lead to a greater love of challenging quiz bowl. Hopefully Dunbar will travel a little bit more. Ready for the shameless plug? We'd absolutely love to have you guys at the mirror of Harvard Fall we're hosting on November 15th.

Wow... congratulations Fred!

I wouldn't say put Dunbar at #1 now... he needs a little transition time to get his system up and running. After all, it took Rick Pitino a little while...

I would love to see "us" (man, what a weird pronoun to be using) travel far, far more often.

If you're contemplating coming to Auburn, any chance you could make it to the C-U?

The thing is, I'm not even in Lexington yet, and I'm pretty sure I'm an assistant/co-coach, so I have limited control over where we're going.

Washington University in St. Louis hosts a tournament that Dunbar used to go to and is on January 31st I think, that should be worthwhile. Also, UIUC and Vanderbilt host great stuff, and if you are looking at going an hour and a half past Wash U, Mizzou should have some good ones too.

I'll put in the necessary plug for MITBAT--you guys did well here last year (I love how we always get about 20 local teams and then 4 completely random teams from way, way elsewhere) and we'd love to see you back.

Edit: this may be made more tantalizing by being housewritten, though I don't know for sure.

Hey fred, you should definitely try and come up for Brown's high school tournament on Oct 11. Its a collaboration between us, Illinois, and Minnesota, so its bound to turn out ok. Email dennis [underscore] jang [at] brown [dot] edu for more info.

Eric, you know you're my idol, but wouldn't UIUC make a lot more financial sense to go to?

I look forward again to Dunbar bringing at least 5-6 teams to Vanderbilt again. I can't remember but usual duties of the assistant coach include driving the yellow school bus, right?
