Use "lower" instead of "reduce" in questions about molecules
Use "lower" instead of "reduce" in questions about molecules
Reduction is a notable chemical process, and it can be annoying spending extra effort to distinguish which sense is used when "lower" has the same number of syllables.

Re: Use "lower" instead of "reduce" in questions about molecules
It's easier for mods to read words with fewer syllables. Since "lower" and "reduce" have the same number of syllables, this argument does not apply in this scenario. An example where this principle does apply is the usage of "BC" or "BCE" when referring to years. Some writers/editors prefer "BC" because it has fewer syllables. Another stylistic consideration is that some questions have character caps, so using the shorter synonym may be preferred.
