2023 NAQT SCT at Purdue (February 4)

Post by quynh mccool »

I am pleased to announce that Purdue University will be hosting the Midwest site of the 2023 NAQT Sectional Championship Tournament on Saturday, February 4, 2023. I, Quynh Phung, will be the tournament director.

Location
The exact location and meeting time will be sent out closer to the tournament date, but the tournament will be held in person and will run roughly from 8:30 to late afternoon.

Eligibility
This is a closed tournament; all players must be currently enrolled at a degree-granting institution and must play with players from the same institution. In addition, this tournament will be split into two divisions. In general, players are eligible for Division II if they have not played at or qualified for ICT before. Full eligibility rules regarding closed status can be found here and regarding Division II status can be found here.

Registration
Teams can register at NAQT’s website, found here. Registration closes on Wednesday, February 1 at 11:59 PM. The initial field cap is 12 teams in each division, subject to expansion or change based on buzzer and staff availability.

Fees and Discounts
- Base fees: $160 base fee for the first team from a school; $135 for subsequent teams
- $10 discount per working buzzer system (must accommodate at least eight players)
- $40 discount per experienced moderator
- $20 discount (per team) for schools new to quiz bowl (neither competed in nor hosted SCT, ICT, or CCCT in 2021 or 2022)
- Minimum fee: $50.00 per team.
Payment must be made by cash, accepted the day of the tournament, or by a check made out to "Purdue University Quiz Bowl Team." We will send an invoice with instructions to each team that registers. Please contact us if any additional documentation or alternative payment method is needed.

For any further questions, please reach out to us at [email protected].
