Fleming County Academic Tournament (January 6, 2024) Flemingsburg, KY

Post by FCPanther »

We are planning to hold FCAT '24 on our usual first Saturday of the new year. That sets us up for January 6, 2024.

The format will be the same as FCAT '23quick recall setup. Pool play in the morning with seeded afternoon playoff rounds.

I've also spoken to our question writer from the 2023 iteration of the FCAT and we'll plan to use their next tournament set. (IceQuickle 3)

More details will be posted in the fall as we finalize our max capacity and fee structure. We do hope to host varsity and "B" divisions as we have in the past.

contact: [email protected] for further information.

Hope to see you in Flemingsburg in January.

I hope the new school year is finding each of you well and ready to get back to class and competition. I wanted to go on a get this reminder out to coaches that have played in the past, and hopefully a few new participants. We are planning the 2024 iteration of the Fleming County Academic Tournament for January 6, 2024 at Fleming County High School.

The format will be the same as FCAT '23. Teams will play three pool matches in the morning that will be used to seed the afternoon's playoff rounds.

We plan to use IceQuickle 3 as our competition set and utilize a traditional quick recall format for matches.

As in the past we intend to have a varsity and "B" division. The "B" division is not necessarily JV but may consist of teams of non-starting players. In the interest of competitive balance we may move teams from one field to the other...i.e. an exceptionally strong "B" team may play in the varsity division.

We do ask that ALL teams bring a WORKING buzzer system and an official (moderators or someone that can keep score).

We have a hard cap of 32 teams.

Entry fees for the tournament are $90 for the first team from a school. Second teams from the same school may enter at a rate of $45. At this time, we will limit each school to no more than two entries. We may open things up to more teams from a school as space permits.

Field update for FCAT '23.

Fleming Co. x2
Johnson Central x2
Montgomery Co. x2
Shelby Valley x1
Northmont (OH) x2
Ashland x2
Campbell Co. x2
Mason Co. x2
Berea x1
Bishop Brossart x1
Martin Co. x1

That's 18 of a possible 32. Still plenty of time to register. 12 of those will play in the varsity division with the other 6 in the "B" division.
