Venetian II (June-July, Online, Individuals)

Post by oriley »

Good afternoon! This is the announcement post for Venetian II, a bonus-only format now open for individuals of all ages. All information about the tournament can be found on the website here.

There will be division splits between people over 18 and people at/under 18, as well as between “novice” (high school regular difficulty) and “experienced” (college regular difficulty), for a total of four divisions. (In the United States, the high school graduating class of 2023 is considered U18.)

All necessary information can be found at the above link. Some further notes and clarifications:
  • The tournament runs for six weeks, starting the week of June 25. Players play one game on either the Sunday or the Tuesday of each week at a time that works for their schedules.
  • Many of the questions in each version of the set are adapted from the other. Players will not be able to spectate any games in other divisions until their weekly game has been played.
  • Science players will be pleased to know Geoffrey Wu wrote the science for this tournament.
  • Registration is through the website linked above. Registrations are called “tickets” because the template won’t let me edit the word “ticket,” so we roll with it.
  • I may be able to run a couple of practice games on packets from the first tournament. If that would interest you, let me know and I’ll see what I can put together.
I can be reached by email at “oriley1201 AT icloud DOT com,” or through the UQC website at “owner AT uqcquizbowl DOT org.” Feel free to shoot me an email if you have any questions.

Enjoy the tournament!
