The Purdue University Quiz Bowl Team is excited to announce that we will be hosting the Midwest Mirror of 2023 Penn Bowl. This tournament will be held in person on Purdue University’s West Lafayette campus on October 28th, 2023. The field is capped at 12 teams, but can be expanded given interest and staff availability.
Eligibility
This tournament will use ACF's eligibility rules. In general, teams whose players are all attending the same school and taking at least one class for credit during the 2023-24 school year are eligible to play. ACF’s full eligibility rules are available here.
Rules
This tournament will follow ACF’s official gameplay rules.
Registration
Please register by filling out this form. The field cap is 12, after which teams will be placed on a waitlist unless we are able to secure enough rooms, buzzers, and staff to expand the field.
Payment
Payment must be made by cash, accepted the day of the tournament, or by a check made out to "Purdue University Quiz Bowl Team." We will send an invoice with instructions to each team that registers. Please contact us if this system does not work for you.
Fees and Discounts
Registration: $120 per team
-$5 for each functional buzzer set with at least 8 buzzers
-$10 for each staffer capable of reading or scorekeeping at least 9 rounds of gameplay at a rate of 45 minutes per round
For any further questions, please reach out to us at [email protected]. Thank you for your interest, and happy buzzing!

We have reached the initial field cap of 12 teams. Any future registrations will be placed on a waitlist until we secure enough staff, buzzers, and rooms to expand the field.

The field has been expanded to 15 teams and will not expand further. There is only one spot left, so act quickly if you want it!

A team has dropped, leaving us with one spot left again. We could also potentially accommodate a 15th team if needed using byes.

Re: Midwest Penn Bowl at Purdue (10/28/23)
The field is now full once again at 15. A logistics email was sent out to team contacts earlier this week; please let me know if you did not receive it! I'll send out an update tomorrow or Friday with the revised 15-team schedule.

Thanks for playing Penn Bowl! We'd appreciate any comments in the discussion forum (under usergroups in the User Control Panel under your name in the top right). There are also all the packets, as well as the QBJ files from which you can feel free to create advanced stats (and some advanced stats Geoffrey Wu has cooked up thusfar).

Thanks for coming out to West Lafayette for Penn Bowl, everyone! Chicago A was our undefeated champion, defeating Illinois A in the first game of an advantaged final. Indiana A placed third, with WUSTL, Purdue A, and Michigan A all tied for fourth.
